Thanks, Bart. Such a heart-warming story. :Hug2:

I love rays of sunshine through the clouds, such as these. :)

I'm glad to see joy in the simple things.

Beware DHL notices. My hubby opened one, and it ate all his files. He's livid.

Around 3:00 this morning, Michael, my 18-year-old son inadvertently woke me up as he left the house. I thought about the times my friends and I would sneak out and the things we'd do ... and I got a little worried. Since I wouldn't be able to sleep until he returned, I got dressed and went out to my office to write, which entails a quick trip to AW for inspiration. As I was reading this thread, certain I wouldn't have anything good to add, my son returned. Turns out an underage friend of his had been out partying and knew he/she had too much to drink and called Micheal for a ride home.

My first thought was that the friend should have called his/her parents and faced the music. Then I thought of another alternative: the friend thinks about calling his/her parents, knows he/she would get into serious trouble and decides to drive.

I told Michael, "You did good."

Since sleep is out of the question, I stumbled back out to my office, happy I had something good to add to this uplifting thread and convinced that I have to share with my son my tips on sneaking out more quietly. :)

:)

Wonderfully uplifting, for such a simple story.

As many of you know, I spend a lot of time in AW's Chatroom. There was a conversation there recently about the nature of the human spirit. One chatter had a very negative outlook. It makes me wonder what makes others feel so negative about their fellow human being.

I can't imagine what it would be like to live with that attitude. As I told a friend of mine recently, over and over again I've had proof that people are good and that we all matter.

Lurve you all, ya bunch of crazy writers. :)

I told Michael, "You did good."

Wow! You did too. :)

Sara, you're so right, as always. There's so much generosity and kindness in the world, but it's easy to get swept up in the negative. I spend a lot of time researching the horrors of factory farming, etc, and it's darn hard to stay positive some days. This thread is so good for the soul. :)

Aww, Moonwriter. That is seriously a heartwarming story. You should be so proud of the level of maturity shown by both boys. Your son was very generous for leaving a warm bed in the dead of night to help a friend. We need more like him.

Good Morning, still new here and just found this thread. Even though I woke up with a case of cranky pants due to the heat your stories made me smile. Thanks for the lift.

My fiance was all upset, curled up on the bed, thinking he was a bad parent. Our 2-year-old son saw, came right over, petted his daddy on the head and laid his head down on his daddy's shoulder (his version of a hug).

I practically melted.

It's more flash than sparkle, but I made my daughter a ribbon dress yesterday.
This morning I made her a belt to go with it.
P.S. - Sara, don't look too close at the background.

Fabulous! And she looks so happy too. How she can live in that freakroom is beyond me but other than that, awesomeness. :D

:ROFL:She doesn't live in the "freakroom", that is my bugs' little corner of my craft room. She has her own very sparkly, and currently very messy, bedroom. Pastel pink, purple, and blue curtains, butterflies and flowers on the walls, book shelf stuffed with books, butterfly quilt, unicorn pictures, flower wall shelves, etc. (You'd actually probably like her room. When it's clean, of course. :tongue)

I love this thread. It's so nice to read about the good stuff, when it's so easy to get bogged down by the not-so-good.

My 5 year old daughter told me today:
"Mommy, you're the best mom I ever had."

When I saw Haggis had posted, I expected to find a disturbing Hoff in body glitter picture, or something.

Morbid curiosity made me look.:roll:
