I couldn't find this one anywhere on the forum... maybe I'm not looking hard enough.
Anyway, I'm using Final Draft 6. When I convert to pdf it automatically adds a title page. It has my title and name, but at the bottom left it has name, address, and phone number. I can't seem to get rid of this or change it in the original script to save it to pdf.
Any advice?

maybe an answer

I couldn't find anything here so I went to the Script Services, Software, & Supplies forum on the Done Deal Pro board and searched on: title page final draft -- which listed several FD threads.

Take a look at these threads for yourself, they may have the answer, but no guarantees:

http://messageboard.donedealpro.com/boards/showthread.php?t=7470&highlight=title+page+final+draft

http://messageboard.donedealpro.com/boards/showthread.php?t=7534&highlight=title+page+final+draft

http://messageboard.donedealpro.com/boards/showthread.php?t=21088&highlight=title+page+final+draft

http://messageboard.donedealpro.com/boards/showthread.php?t=12495&highlight=title+page+final+draft

You'll see more threads if you do your own search on that forum...

What I used to do in this case was leave the FinalDraft title page in there and create one in Word to my liking, print it, and use it with the script instead of the FinalDraft one. A simple enough solution. But that was before the days of PDF so you need a version of Word that can save to a PDF and as I recall later versions of Word do indeed have this feature.

I use Sophocles and it too creates a title page automatically, which cannot be deleted or gotten rid of, least that I've ever figured out. But it can be edited and in fact the system relies on the author to edit it. So the system has a title page icon on its iconic menu that gives you access to the title page template, and you can create it in the manner you see fit, at least insofar as its text is concerned.

I can't imagine FinalDraft doesn't have similar functionality. Look for it. Use the HELP function. It's almost gotta be there somewhere.

Under document, click on title page. The current title page will open. Make the changes you want - if you don't want the contact info on it just delete those lines or fill in the info you want. Once that's done make sure you save the title page before you close it.

When you save the script as a pdf, the revisions on the title page should be there.

Interesting. I've been using CutePDF Writer to convert files (not just Final Draft, but other files) to PDF. When I use this (via the Print... function in FD), I get just the script, no Title Page. When I use Save As... from within FD and save it as PDF, it inserts the Title Page at the beginning of the PDF.

You can get CutePDF from:

Wouldn't you want a title/contact page on your pdf? I use the pdf format to email my scripts to producers, etc so I wouldn't a script floating around on someone's hard drive without my info on the first page.

It depends. In my case, I am submitting to a number of contests, and most of them specifically ask you NOT to submit a title page for anonymity reasons.

Problem is if you don't pay for cutePDF you are stuck with a link on your page, showing a mark of a newbie, a cheap one at that (not bagging
I'm probably cheaper than any of you). Where as final draft has the function for free.

I think it was ComicBent who recommended PrimoPDF which offers the same easy/free make-a-PDF function without any pop-up ads or links.

I don't see any kind of watermark or link on the PDFs I created using CutePDF. Looks like a regular ole PDF to me.

Where's the party???-- I got the KEY to the cage--
Gettin' rid of the Unneeded

:hooray:Hi MJLPSU,

I had the same problem with FD7, in addition to it sometimes wanting--- DEMANDING--- to add "CONT'D" after new characters (guess it was shocked by suddenly meeting a stranger...). No way I could convince the program I *did not* want to "CONTINUE" at that spot. Then, on one of my rambling run-throughs of function keys (I was bored:Shrug:), I found there was a box to unclick to make it stop adding the "CONT'Ds". "Hhhmmm..." says I. "*Could* be if there's ONE little unclickable box, there's another!"

There is. :snoopy:

On the "make a PDF" function (if I remember correctly), there's a box to unclick to make it STOP adding a blank title page to PDF.

My question: Why didn't they make these two little, tiny boxes UNCLICKED in the first place? Too simple, I suppose...

ugh, Red!
I have FD6, not 7... mine sucks. I don't have that function.
Anyway, problem is, if I "make a title page" it saves it as a separate document. If I save as a PDF it gives me the title page without my personal info except for title and byline.
So, I'd like to save it all as one document. especially since I'm living in China and it's difficult to find a copy shop to print everything out where the employees speek English (since I have very limited Chinese skills).
sorry if that screwed up everyone's post trying to help, but I thought I might need to clarify. I owe you a coke.
