Editing and Publisher's Guidelines

Wondering: when/if I get an editor to look over my work before submitting it, does the editor format it for publishers or is that my task?

I haven't worked with an editor pre-submission, but I am changing from non fic to fic, and thought it might be a good idea, once I get the book finished.

It's up to you to make it ready for submission, which means editing, etc., and whatever it take to make it your best work, even if you hire an editor prior to submitting anywhere. A great book on editing is Self Editing for Fiction Writers by Rennie Brown and Dave King.

IN order to be successful as a writer, you need to be able to do every step of the process yourself. It takes what--two minutes to reformat according to guidelines? The best way to succeed is to be proactive in just about any career, writing included.
