I'm sorry, SM :(

There's an evac warning out for my town. 'Our' river was not nearly as overloaded with water as others in the area, but apparently the pressure is too much for the dikes and water is seeping through. Dikes may burst.

*sigh* At this point I'm like, I'll see what happens.

Just me, thinking out loud here, but... if there is an evac warning, don't you think you should heed it?

Or is that the warning before the actual evac?

As an elected official, if the call comes to leave, you really should. Set a good example for your constituents and all that. Also for your own safety. Which is perhaps the more important part.

Rejected.

... back to work.

Hey, been there myself, and everyone's right: you made it a step further than lots of people ever will. It may not have been right for this one, but you know now, for a fact, that you're good enough to get in the door.

Next time.

:)

Heh. It's the warning that an evacuation might take place in the near future. I am considering staying put, though, because I have no place to go (my mom and brother are both in the evacuation area) and I can't take my dogs to the designated shelter for people who have nowhere to go. I'm not leaving them.

"The following is a warning thatwe may be issuing an even greater warning in the near future. STFB. You have been warned."

This was hilarious. But what does STFB mean? Google is massively unhelpful!

Isn't there a friend who can take you in, or someplace else you can go? I understand the need not to leave your dogs, but if they are saying "evacuate" then I really think you should go, somewhere.

Heck, hop in the car and drive over to Portugal until it all blows over. Sara would take you in.

:D

I love you people so hard!

And so I'm going to don my Captain Obvious hat here, but Shue and Doomsparkler have a love duet going on?

I see lots of N-Ewe-Ndo, but I must have missed where is was said directly.

Oh, please be safe, 10. And I hope your dogs stay safe too. And I don't even like dogs, but still. They're yours so I care.

Morning Friends!

I'm considering having a talk with my neighbors about their alarm going off at 4am and letting it sit there for an hour or more. I've been a light sleeper lately and it's impossible to get back to sleep with that beeping less than 10 feet from my head.

So, I'm seriously considering starting my revisions on my first novel. Only considering mind you, I promise nothing! ;) And if I do muster up the courage to really look at it I'm going to need someone to hold me. I'm terrified of how crappy it's going to be. :scared:

Morning! There are chickadees, nuthatches, and titmice at my feeder. Woo! Still wondering where the finches and sparrows are. And the cardinals.

Off on a little writing retreat I planned. Hopefully, I'll be able to finish my darn book and get into editing it before I have to come home. I'm so close, and I know some of what I need to fix.

I'll have The Internets, though, so I'll pop in to say hi.

He might just be learning Portuguese as part of some self-improvement kick?

:D

Though why anyone would pick an language that is only predominantly spoken in a handful of places as their first bet for self-improvement is anyone's guess.

*waits for the Sparklepony to take me to task for that one*

Like Captain Obvious said, I think we can all say hello to Major Innuendos and goodbye to Private Conversations.

ETA: Actually, I think the promotion sequence went something like this:

Private Converations, Captain Obvious, Major Innuendos, General Knowledge.

:D

Is it?

*finally haz a legitimate excuse to re-read all of Dave's stuff*

If it's not directly one of his, it certainly has the feel of Dave's stuff, particularly when Florida was getting hit with all those hurricanes.

Did you really need an excuse anyway?

What? Innuendos? Love? Wha?

In other news, the Xmas decorations in the office have to come down today. I haz a sad :(

Mine come down this weekend, which is a weekend longer than I would normally keep them up, but the little one insisted.

Still, I shall miss them.

It always seems to me like the buildup to the holiday, at least in retail land, is interminable, but then the holiday itself comes and goes just so damn quickly anymore. I know some of that is a product of age - the same reason my summers feel so short anymore - but still, it's not fair.

No, but it gives me something to say to CobraMrsFit when she asks, "You're reading his books AGAIN?!"

Me: "Yes. For research!"

Ah, now I understand. At the moment, the only one here I have to justify anything to is the cat. And he's remarkably nonjudgemental so long as I feed him on time.

I would be shocked to my foundations if my husband ever noticed what I was reading at all, much less whether I was rereading something.
