Let's see, cheap raw material. . . . . Hey! Did you get it from "Jersey Shore?"

... now I'm envisioning a season of the Jersey Shore, but with cephalopods. Weirdly, I think the colours would be the same.

It's honestly been so long I think I'm going to have to relearn anyone I might have previously known here.

... so, anyone besides me been unable to stop watching the latest Prometheus trailer, even though it keeps inspiring embarrassing noises to tumble forth in reply?

I'm newish, too. Joined up in January. :) I mostly talk about my cats and ... I'm sure there's other stuff. Mostly I lurk and chat to the bar bot. Hey, someone's gotta provide the background hum!

Also... Prometheus as in the fire-bringer? They're resorting to Greek myth, now instead of trying to write anything original? Go Hollywood. (I haven't seen the trailer or I might be more interested!)

Actually, and I haven't googled this yet, but I think that Prometheus, is actually Ridley Scott's upcoming Alien Prequel. I had heard that one was in the works. But my pop culture type information flow is um, limited to about 300 baud here, while you guys are running 25megabit connections.

In other words, I could be way off base.

*And my supply chain does not at this moment involve Jerseys Shore. I will say no one will miss them.... Would that apply to Jersey Shore as well?

Morning cantinas :Sun:

Morning Urban, haven't seen you around for a while. I hope it's going well.

Thank you to yesterday's hero volunteers, and Ande, it's true, you never forget how to ride a bike.

Oh, and is that thing about background hum the reason I get told off every time I go for a shower?

:Coffee:

Anyone know if Tiff found that motivation?

Chocolate? or Rainbow?

Wow. Both please.

Morning folks. I'm going to lie in bed allll morning. Or at least until the bladder threatens to rupture.

Meanwhile, I'm going to go check out the latest Hunger Games trailer.

I'm up to 171 words today :e2woo:

Everyone spare a thought for Bos who came 22nd in the Western competition, and K.L. Townsend who came 9th.

Well done for even entering, you're braver than me.

Although I did think of a Western themed AtCT.

Current story seems to have beginning, middle and end, so better start adding words then.

Er, do cats work on similar principles to Roger Rabbit? You know they only want to sit somewhere when you want to sit there too. A bit like Roger could only take his paw out of the handcuffs when it was funny.

Morning folks. Pleased to say abusive Twitter stalker has now fallen silent and been summarily blocked. I triumph once again! Also, made some new Twitter friends out of the incident so it can't be all bad...

In other news, trying to get things sorted for my friend's wedding next weekend is proving preeeeetty manic. Very exciting though. I'm going to be wearing a sari :D

Whut up gang?

Congrats to Bos and KL!

Okay. Put down your beverages. This morning was something out of a cartoon.

A skunk got into my HavAHeart trap. I had to take my chickens out of their tractor while only 6 feet from this stinky bastard. He never threatened to spray, but sometimes I got an extra whiff of skunk. I move the chickens to their day run.

I got in touch with a wildlife lady that convinced me I could get a tarp shield and free the skunk and then walk off safely. Yeah.

I got a tarp. I figured on the best approach because there are trees and bushes in the way.

I approached. I cussed under my breath. I covered the trap and opened it. As I tried to lock it open, the skunk waddles out. I freeze and wait for it to run off in fear and indignation.

It looks up at me with it's mangy but youthful face. I cuss.

Bastard takes a right, sniffs at my meager tarp shield, gets all excited like a stupid dog.

I try and improve me shield and back off. The skunk comes around anyways and is inches from my sweatpants clad leg.

I abandon shielding myself from the friendly bastard and leap away. I turn, and the bastard is staring at me with those big beady eyes. He waddles toward me. I fake left, then go right. I jog-run away. I look back.

Bastard is waddling after me.

I run across the little bit of grass. I look back.

Bastard is running after me with his hoppy gait.

Fking Pepe lePew.

I run for the front of the house, needing a weapon or a shoeld or a neighbor with a gun.

I accidentally ran past the chickens and the skunk sees them and beelines for their run. I shout HEY! And grap the only thing at hand- a bottomless empty plastic bucket (thus a useless cylinder) and charge the skunk.

Bastard is trying to get into the chicken pen. Chickens are screaming. I'm keeping my distance but chasing the skunk as we go around the perimeter. My bucket is out and at the ready to magically trap the skunk. Maybe he'll be dumb enough to stay snug in the open bucket and I can find a cover.

Bastard bolts for the woods. Undetered, I chase him across the ground where he chased me. He turned to look at me a few times, just like I stopped to look at him before.

I threw the bucket in his direction to scare him off. It rolled and he jumped in, looking for a hidey hole. My stupid plan almost worked. But he went through the cylinder and waddled off into the woods.

I cussed.

The end.

You know. I bet if you edited that a bit in the way that us writer types do. You could actually sell that. I'd buy it. I'm not kidding.

Those kinds of events happen only once in a lifetime. That one is begging to be released into the wilds.

Fenika's life ROCKS!*

*Though, I'm willing to admit that the one actually living through these events would tend to disagree with the use of that particular term.

Squee!

I just posted a very long review of an exactly-60-years-old issue of Astounding Science Fiction.

I enjoyed the whole issue (even the awful misogyny story was eye-opening), but one of my favorite bits was a tiny ad in the back for a book about early computers from the creator of -- wait for it --

SQUEE the Robot Squirrel.

How adorable is that? I did some digging, and apparently it was the first true robot, for real, and is presently off in a museum somewhere.

Squee!

As long as the robot squirrel doesnt chase me, I'd pay to see it.

And someone remind me to take down the skunk post later and I will look into editing and subbing later ;)

Why did I just print out 28 pages and then hand write the page numbers on?

Has anyone seen my braincell? :e2steer:

Cartoon fun today: Himself sat on the cat earlier - accidentally, but it was still funny. She looked so indignant.

I cant change the privacy with the utubez app, so I'll have to fire up the Mac later. Right now it's dishes (boo) and gardening. Hopefully lePew won't come woo me while I'm outside.
