No, actually, that had nothing to do with it. Only book I've ever had that issue with was Pet Semetery. And after a week, I picked it up and finished it, heebie-jeebies aside.
Perdido was a different set of issues. Mainly that I found it hard to get into, and somewhat slow-moving in terms of it's plot. Some of it was also the writing.
I intend to try it again, at some point, because I suspect it may well be like Vellum, which I also put aside on the first try, only to pick it up again and adore it (and Ink which was the sequel.)
