Stats:

Nov. 23 - Submitted via form w/3 chapters, MG
Nov. 24 - Full request from John Cusick
Nov. 28 - Form rejection

A very fast turnaround, but the form R on a full that came from a submitted partial = terror. I have a few other partials and fulls out, but now I worry I have a strong query and opening chapters followed by a book so garbage it doesn't even warrant an explanation for being rejected.

*deep breath*

Yeah, Q Rs get easier, but full Rs suck... You'd think a fellow writer would know that and give a little something about why they're passing on a full. Oh well. Revenge query

If it helps, try to remember the reason you got into writing in the first place: because in your former life, you did something awful and this go round it's pay back - via the unique form of torture that only the query process can deliver...

In case anyone was curious on my stats:

9/17/2011- Queried
9/19/2011- Request for Full
12/15/2011- Submitted Revisions
12/15/2011- Email from John Cusick apologizing- my ms slipped through the cracks
01/12/2012- Rejection

All correspondence was very nice and not form. This would have been a dream agency, but unfortunately they said my story was too similar to something they already have. Back into the query pool I go!

Anybody have an experience with the form not going through? It hasn't been that long since I queried, but based on John's tweets (and response times in this thread), I should have an answer, and I haven't received anything.

Sorry about the rejection Emualde

I queried the agency on March 8th (via the form on their site), and got a full request the next day from Mr. Cusick. I'll update once I hear back.

Does anybody happen to know if they're a 'No reply after 30 days means no' agency?

Based on Mr. Cusick's data over at QueryTracker, I'd say they respond to everything, but I don't know their official policy, and I don't know how Mr. Treimel handles things.

I don't think so because the site loosely states you can nudge them after 30 days: "Please respect our 30 day turn-around period before inquiring after your submission." That said, I believe they're a bit behind on submissions. I received my rejection a few days ago -- over a week past the 30 day mark. So maybe you want to wait a bit before nudging.

My Overall Experience with this agency:
Sent e-query: 3/8/12
Got full request: 3/9/12
Sent full request: 3/9/12
Got rejection: 3/26/12

Although they didn't provide any feedback (they just said they declined and wished me the best of luck), they've been very nice and polite the entire time I was in contact with them.

Though I'd be lying if I said that my first full rejection didn't sting a little

Submitted e-query May 2 (included 2,500 word-sample of MS)
Full request May 3 from John, who didn't ask for exclusive, but he knew I had a full out with Jim McCarthy.
Now let's see what happens. Probably a rejection. I'll let you know.

Did you guys receive a confirmation once you sent in your fulls? I'm paranoid that some of my fulls weren't received because only one agent sent me a confirmation, but at the same time, I know I shouldn't even bother them to ask until three months have passed.

...Ah, the waiting game is making me paranoid. Time to distract myself with a cupcake.

I recently submitted my speculative YA to them (26th of August) and got a full request from John the very next day. I'm super excited as they seem to be a top-notch agency.

Second agency to not balk at my nationality, at my being a student and at my weird book subject!

Awesome! I've met Scott and John, and they are super people. Scott, especially, is a trip, and awfully fun at a dinner party.

Got a partial request from John (from a contest).
Submitted: 8/17
Request for full: 8/21
Full rejection: 8/23

The full rejection was nice and personalized, with an invitation to send him a revised version in the future. He also said sorry this one wasn't a match as is, but that he'd like to read more of my work.

The feedback was thorough and if/when I revise, I've got a lot to work with, so that was comforting.

Best of luck to anyone with queries/partials/fulls with the agency!

Update: got a R from John today. It's been roughly 2 weeks since he requested a full, so he's quick. It's always nice to just get that R and move on.

The rejection, while not form, was very short and basic. Simply "not a match." I was hoping for a little specificity since the last 3 Rs have pointed to my voice and I was wondering if that's something I can/want to change. To further mess with my head, I have another agent looking at my R&R who LOVES my MC's voice (her caps).

Oh, subjectivity!

Oh my! I'm late to the game in seeing this, but what a chuckle for the end of my day! I wish my non-writer friends would get this, so I could share, but at least my husband--the captive audience to my misery--did when I read it to him.

Oh wow guys, just got a missed call from them about 3 weeks after submitting a full. Right after I received an email requesting me to call them. I called back, but he's currently busy- and will call me shortly.

Guys, help keep me level, here. This is probably a really good sign, yeah?

That is a VERY promising sign. It might not be representation--I've heard of people receiving R&Rs this way--but the odds are good. Good luck. Keep us posted!
