Craft beers are made in small quantities by small, usually local brewers. The quality of the beers is usually significantly higher than the mass produced schlock you normally see on the store shelves--i.e. Budweiser, Miller, etc. You're probably not going to be able to get an American craft beer in Europe. Heineken is actually a Dutch beer. It has a distinctive flavor (which I enjoy) but might not be for everyone. Maybe you could find a good German beer to accompany your meal. That's one thing about eating and drinking in America. We do get to enjoy the good stuff that others make.
Thanks for your reply!
And thanks for your suggestions Jersey Chick, maybe I'll go see if the liquor store will have more American beer, although I think the selection is going to be quite small. Maybe I'll get a bottle of California wine while I'm there (those I do know something about!
