I'm sorry, Alessandra, I meant no offense. I'm also from Chicago. I think I'm letting my frustration with our current mayor color my opinion of our president. (Our streets still don't get plowed where I live! ) Sometimes I think coming up through Chicago politics is a serious benefit for President Obama. I imagine it's why he's good at consensus-making and taking a moderate position. That tactic is frustrating as hell when it comes down to my civil rights. I want him to work harder and faster, but I also understand that Rome wasn't built in a day.

Honestly? I don't have enough local American knowledge to follow the ins and outs of daily political manoeuvring, but neither our prime-minister, nor our opposition have supported gay marriage. And that's when our prime-ministers party officially has it as part of their platform.
So given that my own political leaders can't stop acting like douchebags, I'm really happy that some political leader has stood up in support of it, even if it doesn't mean any practical change.

Dani has a spectacular aura
There has been some major change after this happened. Rachel Maddow pointed out this shift in political viewpoints. It's amazing.

You can watch her take on it here:
