This is a good idea, I'm always looking for new music to play.

My writing playlist consists of a lot of Damien Rice and Florence and the Machine.

Plus right now:

We are the Tide- Blind Pilot
Ho Hey- The Lumineers
Get on the Road- Tired Pony
Poison and Wine- The Civil Wars
Porcelain- Lucy Schwartz
Give me Love- Ed Sheeran

I have a hard time listening to anything with English lyrics while I write, so I listen to a lot of Explosions in the Sky, Gold Panda, and Sigur Ros. They're very inspiring musicians, by the way, and I highly recommend them for people writing adventure books in particular.

^Sigur Ros are so good. Can't wait for their new album.

I'm messing about with a new idea at the moment and putting together a playlist is such a great inspiration.

1. Ten-Twenty-Ten - The Generationals
2. If You Got the Money - Jamie T.
3. Ghosts - Laura Marling
4. Shuffle - Bombay Bicycle Club
5. Show Me the Light - Mystery Jets
6. R U Mine - Arctic Monkeys
7. Sweetness - Pearl and the Beard

If I don't want to hear words, then the Lion King instrumental soundtrack is awesome.

If I DO want to hear words, then it's pretty much whatever pops up on my too-long writing playlist - Taylor Swift (lots of her songs), NEEDTOBREATHE, Lady A, Backstreet Boys (oh yeah), Boston, CSNY, the Shondels, Fleetwood Mac... as long as it isn't screamo, there's a good chance I'll listen to it.

This is me. Same bands even!

But I do make playlists while I'm gearing up to write or just want to think about my current WIP.

My current playlist channels the East Village (in my mind, at least):

Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition
Destroyer - Chinatown
Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
Real Estate - Green Aisles
Wild Flag (Carrie Brownstein!!) - Future Crimes
Rihana - We Found Love
Bon Iver - Perth
Charli XCX - Stay Away
PJ Harvey - The Words That Maketh Murder
Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights
Sleigh Bells - Rill Rill
Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma
Joanna Newsom - Peach Plum Pear
Fleetwood Mac - Never Going Back Again
The Magnetic Fields - With Whom to Dance
Sufjan Stevens - Impossible Soul
Azealia Banks - 212
Yeasayer - I Remember
Robyn - Be Mine (Acoustic)
The Knife - Heartbeats
Fiona Apple - Never Is a Promise

I usually don't make playlists (though I listen to music whenever I write), but for some reason my latest WIP (high fantasy murder mystery!) just demands a playlist, and it's growing bigger every day. So far it looks a bit like this:

Magia - Kalafina
Rinbu Revolution - Masami Okui
Cave - Muse
Sis Puella Magica - Yuki Kajiura
The Last Thing On Your Mind - LIGHTS
You're Not Me - Marty Bags
Monsoon - Tokio Hotel
Everything You Want - Vertical Horizon
Lamento - Kanako Itou
The Key Of Light - Yoko Shimomura
Papercut - Linkin Park
Krwlng - Linkin Park

Yeah, lots of anime soundtrack music because I'm a nerd. uvu

Love making playlists for my novels and works. Here's the one for my YA contemporary novel.

Making other playlists for my WIPs now.
