I am not working today - well, I am, but at home. I am doing a craft fair this coming Saturday and need to finish off some items. Looking forward to a quiet day spent creating works of art. And ironing. blech! love teh creating bit hate the ironing . . .

A question for all the vegans and vegetarians it appears we have here at MTS... what do you eat when you have a hangover?

I mean, for us carnivores bacon is a godsend. Cures-all-ills. Somehow, though, I can't imagine tofu quite does the trick.*

*: I am aware that there is more to vegetarianism than tofu.

Hell yeah. A bacon sandwich and a mug of tea is the ultimate pick-me-up. For extra oomph you could pop a fried egg on top, as long as the yolk is still runny enough to soak the bread with sticky yumminess.

From a scientific perspective I think it's mainly the fact that it's full of salt and protein, both of which you're lacking if you're dehydrated (the main cause of hangovers). I suppose you could just drink some of those rehydration salts, but that kinda spoils the fun

For fun I Googled and came up with this. Vanilla chai tea, fake chicken and waffles, OH WAIT: Purely Decadent ice cream, my favorite! Well, I don't need a hangover to enjoy that for breakfast!

That list gave me much the same feeling! The idea of ice-cream after a heavy night... urrrrgh.

The obvious solution is not to drink as much, but "teetotal" doesn't form part of the normal British vocabulary. Plus I like the taste of booze too much

Onesecondglance - if you're in the UK, see if you can get the Scots soft drink Irn Bru. It's long been held in Scotland as a hangover cure, especially if you actually use it as a mixer whilst you're actually drinking the night before. Whiskey and Irn Bru used to be a favourite around our village.

Can't say though that I know first hand, as, despite being Scottish and British, I actually am teetotal.

I am familiar with Irn-Bru, although I'd not heard of its marvellous efficacy. Might explain the legendary imbibing abilities of the my Scots colleagues though.

Exactly! If you do need to water it down then do it the 'snob' Scotch way - separate glasses for the Scotch and the water and take alternative sips. Then sink back into a comfy chair and the let the world spin happily by!

If you want salt and protein you could eat peanut butter, I'd put it on toast and eat slowly. Or you could sip tomato juice with a dash of salt.

I'm new here and I've been invited by HeyJude to join in the conversations. Well their seems to be a lot of weird topics going on so I'm gonna give it a shot:

Dip something in Chocolate?... how about Prosciutto (if your Italian, you'll eat it)

About Bacon? - There's NO RULES with bacon.... it goes with ANYTHING!!!!!!

Whisky? - Dip it in chocolate and then bacon = your hang over cure

Favorite Breakfast - Wheaties.... It's the breakfast of CHAMPIONS (That's kinda of mis-leading because I've eaten Wheaties since childhood and played every sport know to Man and have NEVER won a single Championship? But... I keep eating it?

Right now. I'm eating some Hershey's extra dark chocolate. Yum.

Well update on the library/cemetery/parking lot thing. I wrote a letter to the village mayor and town supervisor about the tombstones, and if we (historian's office & scouts) can retrieve the rest.

Crews were at the house north of the library today removing asbestos siding. Method is questionable. OSHA was supposed to be there today, but didn't show. Just doesn't look like the crew is taking the precautions they're supposed to. Jeezzzz, and the school brought a bus load of kids to the library today while the guys were working on the house. Nuts, I tell ya.

I told one of the folks call OSHA again. They're not going to like knowing that kids were near that. Had about ten protesters there too.

The saga continues ...............

Hallo Funny Guy - welcome to the World of Crime and Chocolate .... muahahahahahaha

I was taken out for tea yesterday. A real old fashioned high tea - sandwiches, scones, cream, jam and then cake. It was good, only there was no chocolate! sigh.

Yesterday I was determined to do work for the craft fair, all I did was eat, drink and laugh. Better than work!

No, OSHA will not like that at. All. I'm surprised they didn't show. Unless things have changed since my days in safety, they're not usually cavalier about such things.

Yesterday I had chocolate with raspberries. It was my reward for making it through the day.

They're talking about taking my grandmother back off 24-hour hospice, she's doing so well. :Wha:

OSHA is the health and safety thing? Like our HSE? If so, no, they won't take too kindly to that.

Robertsons British Deli just delivered a box of my favourite chocolate bars from back home. And two bags of fudge from Thorntons, and some Patak's butter masala cooking sauce, which I might use for dinner tomorrow. Now I'm trying to learn Scrivener, which is requiring a lot of chocolate. Cannot fathom this thing at all. Though I'm sure it'll be useful if I ever do fathom it...
