AFord, I say this with all love and affection, but your new blog comment system is a nightmare. It made me sign up, get an authentication email, and then steadfastly refused to accept my username or even let me enter my email no matter how many times I logged in. It needs fixy-fixy pronto.

My comment that it wouldn't allow the world to see: "Again, I'm always interested to see how you can work our prompt in with your established characters and realistic story! Sometimes the weirdest worlds are also the closest to home."

I got a lot of comments saying that people wanted to read what came next. Would it be against the rules to post an update here? If so, where would be a good place to let you guys know about the update?

I'm working through some of the posts now. If you haven't heard from me yet, look to hear from me soon.

Rules? Where we're going we don't need...rules.

Seriously though knock yourself out. AFord for one works most of his prompts into an ongoing narrative. And if you want to post a link here, have at it :)

Looks like the Oobleck wins: Batholomew falls to the bottom of the chain. Viklit is our next contestant.

It's Earth! You maniac! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you to hell![/planetoftheapes]

dclary, please take us home with your prose post.

Also: Ideas for July! Go!

My weird world entry should be up by this time tomorrow. If you haven't heard, I got massive news today, and my schedule's been blown clean out of the water.

Good on you for getting a request for a partial! I'm assuming that's the news you meant :) What publisher did you query and what's the work?

It's just an agency, so far, but a fairly reputable one, if their list of clients is to be respected. It's my post-apocalyptic urban fantasy.

July... Julius... Caesar... how about a post about ancient history or the Roman empire or empires in general or methods of childbirth?

Ok, maybe not the last one...

I am also toying with the idea of music as a prompt for writing. As in pick a song and write a post about it or inspired by it. This is one that suits the fiction bloggers better than the non fiction bloggers, I think...

4th of July holiday is in July, but not sure if everyone here celebrates that holiday.

Red, white and blue - this could be interesting because it's so broad. :D

I'm pretty sure we have our share of non-Americans, though to be fair the UK, Australia, and Middle-Earth all have red-white-blue flags. Not sure that the colors have the same, if any significance though :) I'd prefer something a little more inclusive unless there's no better ideas.

I think of July as the height of summer and a time of rebirth and new growth for the lands that include the heat of the summer season. So, for me, the topic could include such concepts as:

Friction
Conflict
Fire
Rebirth

Anything that will represent the hottest month of the year.
