The Red Sox, of course. In my defense, I was a fan long before they had stretches of not entirely sucking. In some ways it was easier back then, because I had that whole rooting-for-the-underdog thing on my side. Now I find myself also kinda rooting for the Cubs.

I had mentioned briefly that I got to see my office in the new building. My real-for-true office, the first one I've ever had, is as big as the boss's. tee hee. Actually, everyone get's their own office except for the passive-aggressive-grunting-co-worker and the other drama queen - they are still stuck together in a great big room. I am so looking forward to having peace and quiet from my dramatic freaking co-workers. I mean, I think it will be weird, cuz we've been working side by side in the open air of the cubicle farm for 19 years.... but now.... we'll be separated.

whoooooo hooooo!

Good morning one and all.

Aldershot has a distinguished visitor today. At 10.45am (UK time), the Dalai Lama will be speaking at Aldershot Football Ground - which I have a very good view of from the window by my desk. We've been watching them put up the platform, video screens, PA system etc over the last few days, and we are going to wear something orange today to mark the occasion. The only orange I have is a stripe along the sides of my trainers, but that counts!

"Treffpunkt" - 2754 word draft

Untitled story (collaboration with Fenika) - 1729 words and counting

Yay! It might be odd, but I'm sure it'll be a nice change. And you'll have more wall space to put stuff up on.

I know how you feel - not with the screaming baby, per se, but the lack of sleep. I hope his sleeping patterns settle down soon.

I am home The dog was mightly impressed to see me, the cat less so, and my brother sort of lifted his eyebrows and sauntered back off into his room. I also have work, and rostered work at that, so at the end of next week I'll be 100 dollars off making the money I need to be able to survive next semester. And then I'll still have at least two weeks of work to go.

I may actually have a minute disposable income over the next month

I've got a cute little boy blowing bubbles in his cereal. It's messy but at least he eats. Oh and Baby went right to sleep for me so I was able to get another 3 hours of sleep just now.

I foresee a lazy day today. At least after we go shopping, then we're all going to take nice long naps.

First off, I feel better! Halle-freaking-lujah!

Second: I called the preacher last night to beg off going to church. Didn't get him, but talked to his wife. She said that I mostly likely had a bug. I had probably caught it from her, because their entire family, right down to the grandbaby, had had the same thing, same symptoms, the lot. Apparently, this bug is making the rounds; it's not serious, but it's also not fun.

Third: Now I'm feeling better, I'm starting to feel like I've been neglecting my writing, and wanting to get back into things. Writing really is like alcoholism, I firmly believe: an addiction that can't really be shed without major intervention.

And yay for writing Fen!

Hm, now, should I put away the dishes or get laundry started or write? *looks at clock* actually I have to get to the store soon so I guess I should put on clothes and dress the kids and all that jazz.

I was just about to say "why aren't you wearing clothes, it's almost 5 o'clock in the evening!" but then I noticed you're in Colorado, hence in a totally different time zone than me.

Anyway, moving on from my temporary idiocy... d'you think it would be a viable strategy to write a fantasy story as a collection of short-ish stories instead.

Cause writing a full novel right now is feeling like a Snorlax sitting in the middle of the road. Except I don't have a flute.

Plus I'm getting oddly passionate about this over-arching story about a young guy who somehow inherits magical abilities and ends up, through various heroic deeds, rises to "reluctant hero" status who people keep saying will finally end the kingdom's perpetual war.

And I think it'd just make more sense to chop that up into the individual heroic deeds rather than lumping it into one novel, or splitting it into a more traditional trilogy...

I don't know, maybe I'm just talking nonsense.
