And with that the chain is done. Bartholomew can post if he's so inclined but otherwise keep the suggestions coming. I have a conference this weekend so there's no danger of the July thread going up for some time yet.

Yeah, but you didn't have me involved then so it was therefore not a valid exercise :) [/ego]

Could do a repeat for august 2012, though... make it a regular theme and therefore save having to think up a new one for one of the 12 months every year...

No one outside America celebrates independence day (technically, we in the UK should revile it but we generally just shrug these days and complain when companies we need to talk to in the US seem closed... same as we do over thanksgiving) but the red white and blue theme may apply in this year of Jubilee in the UK.

Sure they do! They just don't celebrate it July 4 :) But countries like the UK that have been independent for-freakin'-ever tend to devote their time to more important matters, like Boxing Day, St. Andrew's Day, and of course Guy Fawkes Day.

They should call it "Traitor's Day" in England.

Actually I think Guy Fawkes day already has the market cornered on that one, being about the Gunpowder Treason and all. Besides, I thought we all agreed to just blame the Hessians and leave it at that.

Well, we were independent only because we were the ones most people wanted to be independent from... :)

Actually, a theme of independence may work...

I like the "independence" theme. Really, it can be broadened to independence from parents, from a bad relationship, from jail... We could generate some good stories. :)

Independence, Slavery, and Desert Island. A decent crop. Let's have anyone else who wants to chime in or suggest a new topic do so before I tally the votes.

I'd say you could combine independence and slavery into one - if someone wants to talk about slavery they can do so within the remit of independence...
