I'm currently reading both Endure by Carrie Jones and Bitterblue by Kristen Cashore. I am loving both books, and sadly their the end to both series!
I wonder who that could be? *looks around AW* Oh, wait...
Gosh, I want Ten SOO badly.
Agreed! Loved Possess...it felt really old-school. I am REALLY looking forward to Ten...sounds like an amazing premise!

So I don't read a lot of YA (which is bad, since it's the genre of the book I'm writing right now...) but I went to the library the other day and told myself, "Just pick one." So I did. Matched by Ally Condie. And... um, I kind of wish I'd picked something else. I'm going to finish it, but I think the writing's really stilted. And the romance is so over-the-top, overblown... I mean, I was 17 not too long ago. And I never just stared at a boy, contemplating the color of his eyes. Does that sort of think really appeal to anyone? I mean, it must, the thing was a bestseller. Anyway, rant over. At least I didn't pay any money for it!
I'm a fan of Sarah Dessen but I couldn't get into this one either. I did get pretty far but eventually I gave up. I would recommend Along for the Ride, Lock and Key, or Just Listen if you ever try her again.

Finished Hannah Moskowitz's Invincible Summer. Didn't really like the first half but the second half was beautiful.
Just started The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl. High hopes for this one.

Just finished Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
It's the first YA novel I've read with aliens in it, and I really enjoyed it - can't wait until the second book comes out.

I'm currently reading Rapture by Lauren Kate. I'm finding it hard to get into after the long break since her last book. I think the series is losing it's charm now.
I just finished The Maze Runner by James Dashner I liked it enough to want to finish the trilogy.
I am currently reading Eve & Adam by Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant. (You may recognize their names bc the last thing they wrote together was Animorphs) So far it is pretty good, although the chapters are a bit short for my liking (2-4 pages).

I LOVED Animorphs as a kid. I'll definitely be checking into Eve & Adam just because of that.

This is one of my favourite YA books ever. I adore it. I think most writers will identify with the main character for sure.

I finished The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour yesterday. I'm not sure if I liked it as much as I liked Hold Still, but still -- wow. It had exactly the ending I hoped it would have, which was great. It gives me incredible wanderlust. Nina LaCour is one of my favourite authors now.
Moving on now to The Unnaturalists by Tiffany Trent. I got an ARC in the mail. I'm only on page 12, but the opening was a little disappointing. Still, I hope I end up liking it.

I felt the same about LaCouer's second novel. I LOVED Hold Still and enjoyed (but didn't love with the same passion) The DisEnchantments.
I don't know why I got a preview of The Selection on my Kindle, but as soon as I read that much, I kept thinking about it, so I bought the whole book yesterday afternoon. 75% of the way in and surprisingly loving it, even if half the characters' names are ridiculous.
Count me as #3 with the same feeling about these two books!
I recently finished The Catastrophic History of You and Me. It was cute, a bit predictable, but holy cow, talk about author intrusion. I think she'd have done better if she'd simply set the whole book in the 80's since she obviously loves that decade. All the 80's songs and references just felt so overdone after awhile.
I started The Drowned Cities today. I'm falling in love with Paolo Bacigalupi all over again.
Wings of the Wicked by Courtney Moulton. It's compelling and I got through the first half super fast, but I just hit a part that screams dub con, and is kind of pushing my squick buttons. Need to see if I can push through to the ending later.
I read this series, and sadly, I didn't think she grew up all that much at all. That was just me though--and I don't want to discourage you from reading it by any means. But I am going to say that I was disappointed by the ending.
