I jotted down a few sentences at stoplights yesterday. Yep, that's how my day was. Today doesn't promise to be much better. The panicked teacher emails, texts, and calls have already begun for the day, and I lead my small group tonight so... oy.

2030 for me this morning. This character has been doing rescue work in mud for ten hours, so at the end, he was exhausted, which is much how I feel about the novel, so that part I think is going to have oodles of verisimilitude.

One more climax to go. Or to fake. Now I know how hookers feel.

It helped. I figured out I'd started the story wrong. So I went to the beginning and...omg, the flow is better! I'm starting to feel a faint pulse as the characters and plot come to life.

Been using this new Scrivener software to consolidate my research, and actually figure out the look, design etc of my space stations and moonbases where the murders take place. And realised as I was designing the computer system that there's a way they can find out what happened, which will make a cool plot point towards the end. No actual words though.

Mommy doesn't like those faraway universities he's looking at. No, not at all. So we'll take him to another event at RICE since I can drive there in a day. It's a fine university for nerds. And his aunt, uncle and grandmother are minutes away.

Not that I would ever hold my baby back :e2arms:

Hmm, interesting. That 881 was before midnight and goes in yesterday's figures for my writing log.

After midnight I kept going with the new short story and added another 1541 words.

2422 words for this "waking period". I haven't had a day like this in months.

I love it when that happens. All of a sudden something that might just have been a cool detail becomes integral to the plot, and the story feels a lot more rounded as a whole.

way to go, doc!

Not quite 500 for me this morning plus some notes like "add paragraph about X" My brain just isn't up to more. But I did something, which is good, keeping the momentum. One more good hard day will do me now. And then a break from everything except jotting down notes for improvements as they pop into my head (which I know they will), until I simply cannot be kept away from it and return to revise the last third.

How nice it'll be to play the guitar more than 15 minutes a day again and take morning walks, to make a salad that does not involve merely cutting open a bag of chopped lettuce.

Lazy sofa-led Sunday, did 1 230 words this morning. Very intense and moody writing, hope this character isn't going to irritate the hell out of me. I don't often write male characters and this one is demanding all my time and attention, sigh.

Spent some time doing research on mental illness today. Fascinating. Fixed two chapters, but I'm thinking of printing the whole WIP out and going through it with my hot pink pen. Things always look different printed out.

Grab those muses while you can, Zelenka. Scrivener is fab, isn't it. Really helps with plotting, and writing without any distractions. Once you've stopped playing with all the bells and whistles, that is.

I did absolutely nothing yesterday, and enjoyed every minute of it. Today I've managed 1548 words, although I have the feeling the book lacks...oomph! *Sigh* I will press on and finish it. I see a massive edit in my future. *Double sigh*

Well, I haven't done a lot of writing lately. My laptop is still at the pawn shop.

Hope to get it out this weekend, if the company is nice enough to pay me this week instead of next. In the interim, I do have my work PC and some spare time.

Not a lot, but got 217 today, and worked out a scene that was bothering me.

I got about 1800 words written last night on a new story. (That one was for a timed "contest" so it trumped some of my other work.)

I'll get my words in for today later tonight, probably on a different story I started late last week.

The big thing I need to do this week, though, is make time for some revisions on the novella I finished earlier this month.
