It's an odd kind of shame. I absolutely love it and listen to and watch it whenever I can, I'm just constantly worried of actually owning it on Blu Ray, because my family might hear me watching it and think I'm weird for listening to a musical about transvestites.
Really, the same weird shame exists for any musical, which also explains the embarrassment over asking them to buy me Les Misérables on Blu Ray.
Maybe it has something to do with musicals being so heavily tied to "they're the things gay people like" and my family doesn't know I'm an uphill gardener yet. Eh, I dunno.

Despite my official line on musicals being a lower form of art than, say, crime drama, or horror films (yes, I am well aware of the Barry Norman effect in play on that matter) I happen to own... Damn, there's a lot. Fifteen? Sixteen musicals? I seem to buy them when I am feeling particularly depressed, so they turn up in small groups. Moulin Rouge! was the last, though I have a feeling I'll end up purchasing at least three of the Fred Astaire DVDs which are currently on sale... Three quid for classic cheesefests? You really can't have it better than that.

In related news, that list of Blu Rays I was struggling over now contains 2 musicals (The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Les Misérables' 25th Anniversary), an old classic (A Clockwork Orange), 1 horror film (The Woman in Black), the 5 lead-ins to the Avengers movie (Iron Man 1 + 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger), Hellboy, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, V for Vendetta and Watchmen.
Really I'm nowhere near expecting all of them (that's just not going to happen) but in that list no matter what ones I get, I'll be satisfied.
Incidentally, that's a lot of comic book films...
Actually, that's more complex than merely the cartoons... There was a whole other continuity (relationships, friendships and rivalries) built up for the Gold Key comics - including a bunch of new characters - then the franchise was rebooted for the 90s cartoons, comics, games and stuff, before the people in charge had a massive brain fart and went and ruined everything with a few really, really crappy films... Also, there was (uh... late seventies, or *just* into the 80s) a third, completely separate, continuity where the characters were self-aware, and acknowledged the readers at various intervals. The mid-80s games (I only have one) might be in yet another continuity depending on whether you believe what some of the characters say, or if you think that they are merely written badly.
