That's a good question; I'll have to add it to the FAQ.

It's because old threads are sometimes purged based on age and activity. Also, people sometimes ask for SYW threads to be purged, especially if they plan to start subbing.

That's really weird, because some of the N/As are much younger and more inactive than the ones that are still there. For instance, there's some from a thread by a writer who hasn't been active on here since 2007, and whose thread certainly hasn't been. Yet points and thread still visible on Rep page. Weirdy-beardy, Verdi.

I'm outraged to hear I've probably lost the points connected with deleted threads - outraged, d'you hear? Outraged! That explains why you've not as yet run out of wonderful things to say about me...

Hmm, I'm off to the Obsessive Rep Points thread Read Remembrance of Things Past in the original French.

It could also be one of the times the server's decided to go bellyup; we've had several instances where two or more days of data were not recoverable. And some forums are more likely to be purged than others.

Your total does not change; it's just that the link to the post in question is N/A.

[QUOTE=Medievalist;5946617]What are Reputation Points and Comments?

Hi there. I apologize. I feel like a dummy. How do you know what your own reputation is? I don't see nothing in my own profile - like that number 10 you said we start with.

How do you know what other people reputations are? I saw you wrote something about it helps newbies like me figure out who they can trust. I didn't see a reputation number on anyone's profile when I clicked it.

thanks again. I promise I'll be low maintenance as soon as possible?

IT's sort of weird, you have to hover your mouse under your post count in your info to the left.

The red symbol under the word Posts in the screenshot below is approximately where you need to hover the mouse cursor. "WriteMinded is a splendid one to behold" is what the pop-up message for your number of rep points is.

Ok. Now I've got it. Thing is, I don't have a little red X. But now I know where to put the cursor.

Thanks.

The little red symbol isn't on your screen - I added it to the screenshot using Paint, as the screen capture didn't include my mouse cursor. I just put it there to show you approximately where you need to move your cursor to.

Guys if you'd read the exquisite FAQ in the first post of this thread, an FAQ which I carefully crafted using my own blood and tears, you'd know:

1. How to find the Reputation Levels
2. How to find your own Reputation point count

Uhhhh. Well, at least I know it's not personal. But - I see I'm not the only one who takes things literally.

I guess we're the dunces of the day. But hey, I don't see a rep count when I pass my cursor over the little red x that isn't there. Do you?

Yeah, well I appreciate all the blood and tears and I did read it. I even fumble around and find my reps sometimes. Guess I need a refresher course.

Don't confuse your reputation point count or total with your Reputation level.

They are related but not identical.

Your Reputation Level refers to a text string that is invisible.

Your Reputation Level is determined by the total number of points.

The specific sections in question.

These text strings for the Reputation levels are likely to change at MacAllister's whim. I should note that she can give points at will, as well.

The little red spot was helpful. Thanks! I finally found the pop-up message on Internet Explorer but I still haven't found it on Firefox.

Just highlight the area, then you can see the little square better. It doesn't matter whether it's Firefox or IE.

You can't delete rep comments yourself, but if you'd like one to be removed, perhaps because it's abusive (in which case, please report it to AW Admin or any moderator), or it bothers you in some other way, then you can send a PM to AW Admin, MacAllister or any of the Supermoderators explaining the issue, and they will handle it from there.
