My first dog was a cocker mix, Chelsea. She's the dog pictured on the cover in my avatar. We've also had a Min Pin and 2 Pugs.

Chelsea was and will always be the most special dog we've ever owned.

One of my favorite things about Min Pins. Small enough to tuck under my arm and carry when his vision went.

I've always wanted a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The dream is to get her a blue collar and name her Lady.

How can you say no to that face? However, I've recently discovered that female puppies can range up to $700-1,000. So I think the first dog I'll get out of college will be a pound puppy.

I've wanted a Cavalier but in addition to the cost they have major health concerns ranging from heart disease at a young age to brain disorders

I love dogs in general, but right now I'm sharing my home with a German shepherd/dobe/akita/??? mix, a Labrador, and a Vizsla. All rescues too. :-)

You can check them out on my "Meet the Dog" page on my blog: http://donnaandthedogs.com/meet-the-dogs/

As far as whose cutest, it's gotta be my Lab, Toby. It's why he's still alive with all the trouble he causes.

Currently we have two Australian cattle dog mixes (brother and sister) named Maya and Jasper (Maya's mom). Then a little over a year ago we bought Loki who is an English Springer Spaniel (and absolutely the stupidest dog in the world.)

But personally, I adore English bulldogs. And malamutes. I'm going to one day get a bulldog and give him a cool mobster name like Vinny or something lol.

All dogs are wonderful!

I have a special place in my heart for greyhounds. They're such sweethearts, and couch potatoes to boot. What they suffer at the track breaks my heart.

But any dog who needs a home is a great dog. Our current is a Yorkie mix. She's dear, but not exactly what I'd call laid back.

Greyhounds are great! Did you know they are being utilized to help people with mobility problems? They're the right height and when equipped with a stiff-handled harness help their people naviagate stairs, etc.

I have two German shepherds. They are my breed of choice. I love their natural beauty and intelligence. My female I bought(rescued) as a six mo. old puppy from people who were giving her up. They made the mistake of buying two puppies from the same litter because they couldn't decide between the two. Mistake! lol. I got our male from a breeder. Our next dog will be a shelter dog.

My two Löwchens.

I don't show them (also, it looks stupid), so I've never bothered to groom them they way they're supposed to be groomed. Like this:

They're brother and sister and were rehomed to me and my other dog (no longer here) when they were 5 or 6 years old. Been here a couple of years now. They are okay as companion dogs, but I wish they had a little more...brains. I know they're supposed to be smart, but mine are not.

Anyway, it's my favourite breed for now. Might change to Malinois or Australian Cattledog when I get the chance.

TudorRose - I've seen that cute video before, I think on facebook or a blog. Never gets old :-)

Archerbird - I like how you have them cut better than the photo too. A lot of show cuts are off the hook I think, and some, like the Maltese for example, are so hard to care for.

I just found this on another message board:

"Robert GreenTulsa, Oklahoma • 28 mins ago
I have two minature male dappled dauxon dogs which i bought for my wife she was in deep depression after our son died, the dogs brought her back from the brink to complete recovery. she has since been killed in a automobile accident and i would like to find a good home for them before i go to join her in heaven i am 88 years old so do not have too many years left in this world and i want to find them a home where they will be loved and happy. I am available at 918-423-7486.

My heart is so sad for this man. Can anybody around that area maybe help him find a forever home for his doggies? Maybe somebody knows somebody... sigh. I couldn't take them I have dozens of special needs rescue animals already and NO VACANCY at the moment.

All dogs are wonderful, but your Lowchens are sooo cute, Archerbird.

(I would have posted a pic of Echo but I think I can't post photos yet because I haven't accumulated 50 posts yet. Suffice it to say, when we go for walks, we always are stopped by admirers. Once someone followed us around the block so he could meet our dog!)

Dogs are the best! My favorite breed is the Beauceron, not very well-known outside of its native France. They are the most remarkable dogs I've ever met, and I've met a lot

My darlings:

Timber:

Anyanka:

I also have 'official' pics that show what they actually look like, but these are much more fun I'll post those later, if anyone wants to see them.

ETA: sorry about the size. I resized until I just couldn't resize no mo', but they're still big

ETA2: thanks to someone awesome, fun-sized pics! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

I love dogs! Sadly, I don't have one at the moment. I still live my parents, and my mom doesn't want one.

As far as favorite breeds, I used to love huskies. Now, I have a thing with huge dogs, like English mastiffs and great danes. A bit ironic, considering I'm only 5'1.

I always wanted and still want an English Mastiff but I learned a valuable lesson when my late Min Pin went blind. There's nothing like having a dog you can pick up and carry like a football when he can't walk up and down stairs on his own.

True. And big dogs are prone to bloat and hip dysplasia. Still love them, though.
