Stan, I introduced you as a character without ever intending to follow your story. But I'd grown to really like you. So I am genuinely sorry that you couldn't make it to the end. :(

Dear diary, my Nano novel has a body count.*

We're at four "on-the-page" deaths so far. And there are a lot more to come... although I don't think we've had any bodies as such, given the manner of the deaths.

Anyway, rest in peace messrs Connors, Indira, and Lechamp (who may be renamed).

And a special rest in peace for Mrs Sylvia Wilson, parts of whom may now be reminiscent of pastrami.



*: bonus points if you get the reference. I'm not even really a fan of the band - my wife is, though.

Farewell, Jerome Dailey, shanked by another inmate with just a few weeks left in your sentence (although he was facing the possibility of being tried for murder in other states.)

His death occurs offstage, and kicks off the investigation in my current WIP.

Ooh, cool thread!

This memorial honours the 78 men and women whose lives were lost on board the shuttlecraft Atlantis, search and rescue vessels Carpathia, Barton and Nightingale and on the Lunar International Space Station, following the terrorist attack of May 15th 2069. All of whom died off-screen in the first two chapters.

Real body count is only just starting...

Props to you for naming a rescue ship after the Cunard's Carpathia! (At least, I assume that's who she's named after.)
The Carpathia never gets enough credit for that rescue: all the books and movies are about the Titanic.

And, this seems like a suitable place for a memorial for a character who is not only dead, but trunked:
Farewell, Bill! You had a brave backstory and a heroic death: Gunned down trying to save others be fixing someone else's error. You wouldn't have made that stupid move in the first place.
You'll get a really nice funeral, and your ex and your boy will be taken care of. And the woman you left behind will carefully compartmentalize the love the two of you never let happen, and keep going, and no-one will ever know what might have been.
