What's a Beginner's Book?

Hi All,

I saw a call for submissions from a publisher asking for children's 'Beginning Readers' books.

I looked it up but can't see what the difference is between this and a picture book?

Can anyone help define what it means/difference? :Shrug:

I suspect it means first readers. That is, a book intended to be read independently by the child (picture books tend to be shared.)

The bigger bookstores carry them in a turning wire rack. Books like Little Bear, Biscuit, Frog and Toad, Fly Guy.

They are also called Easy Readers and Early Readers.
