Scrivener question

Okay, this might sound silly. I recently started using Scrivener, and so far I'm liking it much. I ran through the little tutorial that comes with it, and I feel like when I did, the examples had a way to actually color-code the chapter folders on the binder.

Thing is, now that I'm in my own file, I can't figure out how to make it happen. I've tried changing the status and label, but that doesn't do anything as far as I can tell.

Anyway, I've fiddled around with a lot, and this program just has a ton I'm not familiar with yet. It would be really convenient if I could figure out a way to do this, so any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like me, except one tiny little problem - I can't even figure out how to open it.

I'm beginning to think that it might be a good idea to print out the manual. There's a lot to this program and everybody seems to like it.

Click on the Notes button on the very bottom, the icon that looks like a notepad. Under the General section, you'll see a drop-down for Label. This is where the color change actually happens, rather than the folder icon itself. Is that what you were asking?

You didn't say whether you're using the Windows or Mac version?

I'm using Windows so this may or may not help.

Click on VIEW> USE LABEL COLOUR IN> then you get options you can tick - Binder. Icons. Index Cards. Outliner rows. I prefer only the icon in the binder showing, but you can play around with it and see which suits you best.

Wee! Fixed it. I have multiple POVs, and this is an easy way for me to find things/keep track. I knew I'd seen it on the tutorial, but couldn't for the life of me figure out how it was done lol.

I use Scrivener, and I didn't even know that Scrivener could do that. I just learned something new today.

I use it for POV's too, Kaitie. So much easier to see at a glance when each POV is colour-coded.

I have Scrivener for Dummies (Amazon, etc.) and find it indispensable. I look up little niggling things like this in it all the time, and voila, there's the quick and dirty answer.
