I'm not sure if it's because I've recently bought and am watching Buffy season 2, but my one male MC is starting to sound vaguely like Xander. In all honesty, though... I kind of like it. My cast is really starting to come to life & it kind of adds a bit of much needed humor.

That's a good thing! I love Xander :) Buffy is so addicting.

After tossing around six different ideas, I have finally settled on one (and I'm sticking with it!). A good thing, yes, but a lot of work in my future. A lot of plotting going on now. Anxious to write now - guess that's good.

I think the time has come to print my manuscript to reconnect with it, a thorough reread. Can't bear to read it on screen. If only I had a printer...

I ordered my CS proof...and THEN decided to delete a few lines from a certain chapter. FML.

My brain is still attempting to readjust after a med change for depression/anxiety, and I am in the middle of a 'down' cycle for said depression. You can imagine the effect it is having on my writing. :(

That being said, original fiction is beyond me at the moment and so I'm working on fanfiction. Even that is a struggle, with POV changes, not enough words per chapter, but at least I'm getting it down.

So far, I've done about 10K words between two different stories (one which is completed and just posted on FF.net), over the last month. I guess I should be happy about that. ;-)

I go to a meeting once a week at the library. A few of the local writers gather to write about prompts and share their work. Some of the members have been providing me with some valuable feedback about how to improve. I am finally able to catch their attention with my story writing. My first problem was trying to connect each event to each other, without having my writing feel jumpy.

Now, I'm focusing on keeping constant tension in my stories. When I stopped to think about it, most novels that I've completed have been stories that I did not want to stop reading, because I always had to know what was going to happen. I have been concentrating on causing enough sensible conflict to keep people interested. It's tricky, but I'm getting better at it.

I haven't written in a long time. Currently, I'm reading Dune (first time) and it's just so engrossing that it astounds me. On one hand it makes me want to write because its so impressive and creative, on the other hand it makes me want to crawl into a little ball and never try again.

I wrote a few pages today and I feel like this scene is way too long but I can't seem to cut it short. Not at the top of my game right now. :(

I think the key is to concentrate on the inspiration. Of course reading such great published work would make most anyone feel insecure about their writing, but instead of thinking about the great things this writer has done, think about the great things you could do with your newly acquired knowledge and inspiration.

I haven't written anything for over a month, and I'm starting to think I should rethink my writing career aspirations.

Don't be so rash or hard on yourself. Your sig line info proves that you've got some worthwhile projects going on and the bulk of the work is done. They sound damn interesting too. Lots of houses looking for MG material right now.

tri--good luck and remember some song lyrics from Blast to the Past:

Accentuate the positive...eliminate the negative.

I'm editing the hell out of a novel while studying up on the submission process. I've given it some good work and I hope to feel comfortable submitting it by the end of the weekend. This is going to be the first time I've looked for an agent and it's a tad nerve wracking.

Meanwhile, I'm brainstorming and jotting down ideas for my next novel while also writing the first few chapters. I've also written down a list of things I have to research. Edmonton, global warming, and music theory. I know nothing about any of those things! This is going to be a long project...

Added more agents to my query list while my last betas finish reading the MS. Thinking about the querying process makes me go "Eep. Dun dun duunnn!" and yet I can't wait to begin querying...

I'm punching out as many client/content articles as I can to build up my bank account, lest my sponsor for my internet connection pulls the plug on me because she got in a fight with my sister (two days ago) and threatened to shut down the internet connection. Jesus Crikey--how did I end up IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS FEUD and why should I suffer? Right now I have two contracts on the shelf and 35 more subs out there between myself and my agent. This IS NOT the time to crucify me for sleights and disagreements. It's not like I can hook up with just any service provider--I'm in the deep back woods with no ground base telephone for DSL. Sat sucks and broadband has limitations as far as gig usage.

Just frickin' great.

I'm SO slow and the fact I study and work 5 days a week (and have essays, tests and presentation every week) doesn't help..
But I gave myself a deadline to reach page 60 in my script by June, and I hit that last night :) very proud of myself.
Page 90 will be given many months though considering how horrible my summer is looking (5 exams, 2 seminars, 1 essay and a presentation :( )

I haven't starting writing my query yet, but I have the feeling I'll get to know the "H" part of "QLH" very, very intimately indeed. Urgggh.
