I have an idea for an online site dealing with SF and fantasy from a specific critical perspective. I also have plans to self-publish my own fiction works in future.
The sensible side of me says, either one of these would be enough to fill my (retired) hours.
The less sensible side of me says that there was one case in which the two orientations somewhat coincided. That would be the xample of librarian Jess Nevins, whose "FANTASTIC VICTORIANA" site garnered a World Fantasy Award. Later he went on to publish a handful of non-fiction books on the works of Alan Moore.
Of course, in that case he's selling nonfiction in both forms, which is not quite the same as what I'm meditating.
Any other examples known to posters here, as to a nonfiction site having favorable repercussions on an author's books?
