That, to me, sounds like Paranormal/Paranormal Romance. (You don't have to have a romantic plot to have a Paranormal novel, but most of it is Paranormal Romance.)

Interstitial is about being between genres and... modes of writing, I guess. Stories that blend prose and poetry, or prose that is written lyrically, slipstream, magical realism, etc. So it's not just genre-blending. Have you checked out the interstitial subsection of the SYW forum? (Password: vista) It's slower section of the forum but you might get a better idea of what interstitial encompasses.

It sounds very fun to me but it's all in the way it's handled, right? If I liked the first few pages (and the ending), I'd buy it.
