I'm trying to find out what would have been the finest "money is no object" hotel in Las Vegas in 1986. Any pictures/info on what the rooms would have been like would also be greatly appreciated.

I was there around then, and Caesar's was the expensive one everyone talked about. In 1986, the first MGM Grand was also still in operation, having survived a terrible fire earlier in the 80's. By 1986 some of the historic and smaller famous clubs, like The Sands, Stardust, and the Flamingo were looking old and rather seedy.

Afraid not. The worst problem with writing something set "not that far" into the past is trying to remember just what did and did not exist at that point. I mean, if you're writing in the 1600's, it's easy to remember there are no modern conveniences - but when it's just 25-30 years ago, you kind of have to stop and think about stuff we all take for granted. Cell phones, CDs, Starbucks....)

Luxor was nice. The Hilton was an absolute pit with critters and non working phones
