Black Friday Shopping

I am not an instore Black Friday shopper. I'd rather stay in my PJ's, browse my favorite retailers websites and comparison shop those finds on Amazon's Black Friday offers:http://tinyurl.com/yzqemtu

Black Friday sounds like some kind of fiendish social experiment designed to torture me.

Yeah, I'm gonna shop online, too.

Crowds stress me out too much. Plus, all those swine flu germ possibilities. The only thing I'm touching is my computer keys.

I bought some stuff from Amazon this morning. I'm hoping for a good netbook deal. They have one but it's only $35 off a not so hot netbook. Bleah.

It's actually very close to that. It's designed by businesses to extract money from consumers and put it into the pockets of those businesses.

Thus the name.

Ben leaves the connection a bit mysterious...

I'm glad I went ahead and bought one (it'll be four weeks ago tomorrow!) for nanowrimo. Supposedly according to Clark Howard the real bargains on netbooks won't appear until January.

OTOH, his crystal ball is a little foggy, especially in this economy.

The thing that always gets me is that the big ticket items are rarely bought as gits (or so I gathered from 11 years of working the day after Thanksgiving and hearing people talk about getting themSELVES the super cheap TV, DVD, iPod, or other items.)

Here I thought this was traditionally the first day of the Christmas shopping seasons. As in, buying gifts for others. Though it doesn't surprise me, really, but still. Tis the season for selfishness...

Luckily, I did not have to leave my house today. I quit retail last year. You could not pay me enough to deal with the nastiness of holiday shoppers ever again. It was always the worst time of year for jerks.

I went to Home Depot yesterday (and today). It wasn't bad, but much busier than I'd expected. Lots of people give tools as presents?

I did see a pointless round of haggling by an obvious liar and practiced cheat taking up the time of one of the few knowledgeable employees I needed. Irritating, especially in a store like HD - they won't budge $200 on anything.

I think Black Friday should be renamed to Sociopathic Friday.

Perhaps they decided that calling it "green Friday" would be a bit too obvious.

Hell No.

I do not leave the house or my pajamas the day after Thanksgiving. It's madness.

Sheer madness.
