Nowadays, we understand what it is when a mother is able to lift a car off of a trapped child or some such thing, but pre-1816 did they have any concept of a burst of adrenaline? I have been researching it, but can find no reference to the phenomenon.
Even the word adrenaline on google books is only used in one chemistry text and a few foreign language books, and that is all.
In my book, I have just described it without applying an actual name to the phenomenon, but if there is a pre-1816 name for this I would really like to know it!
Thanks everyone
