I somehow tripped and fell into the rabbit hole that is Thought Catalog. I told myself I wouldn't because I heard that is the site where amateurs write since anyone can get their content published there. But I recently posted my first piece to the site, and although it's a nonpaying site, I have already found it to be a good source for traffic to my blog.

Right now I'm a freelance writer trying to make a name for myself online. So I'm wonder how other professional writers would advise me about Thought Catalog. Will it cripple my reputation or should I continue submitting pieces?

I think your reputation mainly depends on the quality of your pieces. Thought Catalog has rather low entry barrier but has gained huge audience so your writing will attract eyeballs for sure (and get social media shares). My point: publishing on TC won't hurt your portfolio building but don't focus on this source and keep quality in mind.
