Probably the library.
New month time!

Set your goals, write as much as you like, and come track your progress!

Tired of writing due to Camp? That's okay! Set an editing goal instead!

Goals of any kind, writing-related or not, are welcome!

Feel free to jump in whenever. It's never too late to join a WriMo! :)

(I seem a little too peppy in this post. Oh well.)

YAY. Goals! I just blogged about goals, so that's a coincedence :p

1) Number one goal: more content on my blog. My author blog is a little sad, filled with interviews, some updates, and not much else. I don't just want to focus on writing, but reach out to other things that interest mee as well, and maybe draw in more visitors that way. I'm thinking about TV series reviews, local ghost stories and legends, maybe some posts with pictures, gaming tips, writing tips, marketing tips, etc.

2) Second important goal: more promoting. I'm horrible at marketing my own books. I want to do something marketing-related every day, even if it's just tweeting about the books, submitting them to reviewers, etc.

3) Finish writing and editing chapter book #2. Another one of my priorities this month.

4) Work on book release. The fourth book in the Weirdville series will release this month, and I want to get some promotion going.

5) Finish writing and editing chapter book #3.

6) Finish writing first draft of "Ghostslayer" (YA PAranormal Mystery). I've been working on this one for ages, and it's time for some updates.

7) Finish edits for "Soul Thief" (YA Paranormal), which will be released in November

Additionally, I'd like to work some more on another picture book, work out a publishing schedule for 2015, maybe even work on proofreading edits for "Soul Thief" (if the proofreader finishes it in August).

Stupid internet ate my post. Grr.

Goals:

1. Keep up with readings for Uni.
2. Write, edit, and submit 4 assignments for Uni.
3. Have enough free time to do a few things that interest me beyond Uni.
4. Do all this without getting super stressed. :)

Geeze, August already? >.>

My loose goals are to finish one novel I'm this close on, and edit another before sending it to my Alpha reader. Maybe work on serial installments for a story I'm doing on my blog. And that's all you're getting from me 'til November! :p

I did well at July Camp, but I didn't reach my goal. Too much life in my life!

I've got 49k written on my WIP. I'd love to add another 25 to it in August, so count me in!

You ARE peppy, Vampy!

I had a really awesome camp month - beat my 25k Half-Nano goal by 13k. At 38k, I think I'm at least plot-wise half way through my SNI.

Therefore...

August goal:
-Finish SNI.

Once, I did a MS in nine weeks. That was ages and ages ago... (those times you realize you've been at this for a long time...) So let's see if this one can make it!

Started off great. Today, I tackled the following:

  • made a blogging plan, including post ideas, for the entire month of August
  • wrote a blog post about a haunted doll, Annabelle, who plays a role in The Conjuring (horror movie) and who was apparently real. The Warrens investigated her case.
  • finish the first draft for chapter book #2
  • wrote 2k in Ghostslayer, and reached 10k (first draft)
  • set up a marketing plan for my kids books
Now, if I could squeeze in two more reviews, I'd be thrilled.

Edit: DONE. I wrote two more reviews, and a mini-review. Finished all my to do list items for today!

Today's to do list:

  • Write a blog post about how to set up a marketing plan.
  • Edit chapters 14-17 for "Soul Thief" (got edits back from my editor)
  • Write 2k in Ghostslayer -> reach 12k words
  • Add "Valentina and the Masked Mummy" to the chapter books page on my blog (yikes, didn't do that yet)
  • Set up Hootsuite to tweet about my books
  • Write two reviews and one mini-review
Fingers crossed that I'll manage to finish all of these. :) What are your writing plans for today?

Read through 12k story yesterday, and I'm fleshing out more scenes today so I can boost it to 20k.

I managed to get -250 words done today, because of editing... oh well.

Today I'm taking the day off, spending it with partner and dog and not thinking about writing.

Still doing Camp Nano. I extended my spreadsheet for another month so I can hopefully keep up my writing momentum. I'm up to 85k now. And that is why I feel like my brain is melting. Agh. Underslept and overwritten. This novel should be finished in the next week and then I can hopefully attack the next novel on my list.

This is great, since I finished July's camp with a whopping 458 words.

I've had some major writer's block since about last September, so I'm hoping just hurling myself at it full force will help. I tried waiting it out, I tried gently overcoming with a little daily writing, I tried outwilling it... Maybe just screeching and charging will help. It's frustrating as heck.

So my August goals are such:
-Write some words.
-Finish something. Literally anything would be fine.
-Drink more water so you don't end up dehydrated and heat stroke-y like last August (hey, I need to add something I might actually be able to do).

Well, on the editing front, On page 49/177 of draft 4 already. I could stand to add some words, particularly at the beginning, where my urban fantasy isn't very fantasy at all to start.

Also, a secondary character is named both Penny and Polly, accidentally. So I need to choose between those two, which I thought I had, but I forget what I thought was my primary choice. Sigh.

Editing tasks derailed me for July camp, but I'm finished (for now, at least) and am hoping to get back on track. So:

Goals for August:

Write 10k words on current WIP
Read at least two books (currently reading The King's Grave, about the discovery of the body of Richard III)

Pretty modest goals, I admit.

I finished some, but not all of yesterday's goals.

  • Write a blog post about how to set up a marketing plan.
  • Edit chapters 14-17 for "Soul Thief" (got edits back from my editor)
  • Write 2k in Ghostslayer -> reach 12k words

  • Add "Valentina and the Masked Mummy" to the chapter books page on my blog (yikes, didn't do that yet)

  • Set up Hootsuite to tweet about "The Doll Maker"
  • Write two reviews and one mini-review

Today's goals:

  • Write article about the island of dolls on my blog.
    [*]
Set up a media kit for "Valentina and the Masked Mummy" and add it on my blog.

  • Set up SocialOomph (I ended up using this instead of Hootsuite) to tweet about "Valentina and the Haunted Mnasion"
  • Edit "Soul Thief" -> chapters 14 to 18
  • Write 4k in Ghostslayer (2k for today and 2k for yesterday) -> reach 14k words
  • Write two reviews and a mini-review
A publisher got back to me, and asked to see a full manuscript, so if I have time, I'll squeeze that in as well and do another read-through.

Edit: Finished a couple of things, and send the manuscript to the publisher. Fingers crossed!

I sat down to write something smutty and ended up with about 1,000 words of something that I think is kind of a romance-free adventure urban fantasy type thing? It was a very strange feeling to sit down and write a thing. Very pleased, a little apprehensive that I can keep it up. Also, nooooo clue where the adventure is supposed to come in. I'm thinking something with shapeshifting bats. I love me some bats.

Today's Goals:
-Write more of whatever this is
-Add a shapeshifting bat
-Go see Guardians of the Galaxy with my mother

Annnnnnd GO!

Probably the library.
Goals for August:

*Read 5 books (I have a stack of thick ones waiting for me...)
*Write 10k since work overwhelmed me and I had to ditch Camp last month...
*Complete at least 5 DayZero goals
*Write 1 or 2 blog posts
*Finish cleaning my damn apartment finally
*Think of a new goal in the middle of the month and complete it in the second half of the month

I am exhausted... I started working more hours at work a couple weeks ago (like I have real 9 to 5 days now), and a couple weeks ago I was unexpectedly asked to work at my other job which I normally don't have over the summer to help with an event... And since I spend several hours a week co-running the summer reading program at the library I ended up working like 45-50 hours that week between three different positions. *flop*

I've had a tiny bit more free time recently, but not much.

Luckily, I'm back to working 10.5 hours a week starting next week, so once I get through this one I won't have any more 9 to 5 days for a while. :tongue

This weekend my mother sent me to the bookstore and I spent $65. I'm not sure exactly what she was expecting me to do there if she didn't expect me to spend money.

I also went clothes shopping yesterday, and for once I actually found cute, inexpensive things that fit me. :tongue That's never easy at my size...

But oh well.

I want August to be fun. :)

The first day of August, I deleted about 2K from my WIP, then took the next three days off. I hope to get back into writing 1K a day and finish a rough draft by the end of the month.

I wrote 2k in Ghostslayer today, so I'm at 12k now. I didn't finish edits for Soul Thief though.

Today's to do list:

  • Write blog post with editing tip.
    [*]
Write two reviews and one mini-review on my book review blog.
  • Submit one of my books to The Fussy Librarian.

  • Edit "Soul Thief" and send all edited chapters to my editor.
  • Write 2k in"Ghostslayer" -> reach 14k words.
Edit: Finished the blog post, two reviews and one mini-review, and submitted a book. I worked on editing "Soul Thief", but I'm not finished yet.
