Please pray for our chickens. We finally got their coop put together and this is their first night outside. Thank you.

Thanks for the prayers, guys! The chickens survived the night and seem untraumatized.

Prayers sent, Sassandgroove. That's a lot of things to deal with!

Thanks all. The woman who broke her neck doesn't seem to have damaged her spinal cord. Thanks for the prayers!
For those of you who celebrate it, Happy Easter.

Prayers sent your way Sass'. I work at a surgeon's office and I've seen breast cancer and colon cancer patients come in. Though surgery was needed to battle the cancer, many of the patients are 85-90 years old. It is scary to be diagnosed with the disease, but a comforting fact is that many cancer patients can still live full lives. :)

I have a prayer request; if you could keep my Dad in your prayers. [Name: Daniel Strauss] The doctor called and said that his creatinine level was 4 today. (Normal is 0.5 - 1.3) This level is kind of dangerously high. He did just get over the flu, (he feels quite well now) and so we're hoping and (somewhat) confident the creatinine level will naturally come down on its own with a careful diet and lots of water, but some prayers would be appreciated too. He'll get blood work again in about month and I'll give everyone an update on how his levels are.

For those who don't know, creatinine is a toxin that is filtered out through the kidneys except his kidney was directly damaged from sepsis last year and is still a bit incapacitated from the damage. In December the kidney specialists said the left kidney was working at about 80% and the right at 20%. [so he really only has one functioning kidney] He saw two specialists last year at two different hospitals and both seemed unconcerned with the kidney. However a creatinine level of 4 still isn't good, so we're hoping that the terrible flu he had was the culprit and now that he's over it his levels will come down. I'm a little unnerved though and wonder 'what if they don't'. So please, keep my father in your prayers. He's really been through a lot this past year. He needed to have a bowel resection done in December, AND he has gout. (The gout seems to be going away with an herbal supplement called GoutPro, but some prayers on that would be nice too :) )

All-in-all, I just don't want to see him on dialysis. He's only 54 and I'd like to see him live a happy, pain-free life at least into his 70s if not longer.

Praying for your father, Quentin.

I'm new to this thread and I find it truly wonderful to find somewhere celebrating the power of prayer.

In everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

First, prayers please in thanks for a writer on AW who has overcome so, so much in life with the help of God (and a wonderful spouse).

Second, someone mentioned I haven't updated you guys on this board re: my older son, Matt.

Matt was born with a syndrome that causes autoimmune disorders. He also was born neurologically impaired (but drives a car beautifully and volunteers as a first aider, helping them out), and also was born with Asperger's Syndrome. <Whew> But to see him, you'd hardly know how hard he has had to work to get to where he is today as a young adult.

Two years ago, he was dx'd with testicular cancer which hit his lymphatic system, namely four lymph nodes. Surgery, then radiation followed. The other day the oncologist said he was cancer-free. :) Yay! Those who knew about this, thank you for your support back then and prayers.

ETA: Matt was hospitalized in Oct. for 8 days due to passing out. Many many tests were done and a tiny recordable heart loop was inserted in his chest. This past March, the cardiologist noticed his heart had a three-second pause. His heart is strong, though, which is good, so the dr is waiting and watching. The prayers Matt needs are to be able to keep getting his four vials of blood every three months, CT scans, and all the various drs., without too much consternation on his part. It isn't easy being the youngest adult in these waiting rooms. Usually patients watch us come in, and think he's taking me to all these tests and drs.

So--that's my update. You guys are all terrific! And so is God. He hears us and answers in His own way.

Hi Stormie,

I'm new here, but thank you for sharing, God really is great! My prayers are with your son and your whole family as you go through the testing and the waiting. Stay strong in Him!

Prayers sent your way Stormie.

John 14:13-14 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it."

I remember this often when faced with trials.

Wow, Stormie, Matt is one strong dude, and his mom is one strong dudette! It's wonderful to hear his heart issue is a watch and see. I'm keeping you both in my heart, with prayers for your continued strength and good health. :e2heartbe
