True, Maryn -- I try not to buy many clothes before school starts so that the oldest girl (and I) can scope out what other kids are wearing a little. She is only in second grade and so far doesn't notice these things much but some of the other kids do. It's a challenge to shop for her because she is so tall and needs clothes that are appropriate for her age and size -- and the poor thing wears adult shoes already, size 6.

I last saw another human on Friday morning. Seriously. I've gone 2 weeks before. It was quite lovely.

Totally agree. I'm loving having my own flat where nobody can come unless I invite them. I have a couple of nights a week for socialising and the rest of the time I'm just going to kick back and work.

I guess that's what I get for being an ENTJ -- I like to socialize and will feel sad and unloved when I don't see anyone forever, but man, I'll go crazy if I don't get my alone-time, too.

So...got back from my mechanic (who is cool for never making fun of me so not knowing one damn thing about cars and even cooler for not charging me for all the diagnostic work they've just done for over an hour) -- apparently the car needs new brakes all around on top of new front tires. Guess where that $500 in grant money that I'll be getting this week will be going? Sigh. At least I can get the tires done at my work, which will give me a discount and I should be all ready and set for the upcoming semester and more importantly winter.

This is me trying to look at things more positively. I mean, hey, it could be much worse (Dear Universe, I'm not tempting you, I'm just trying to avert more negative thinking which will inevitably lead to another panic attack at some point and honestly, after last week, I understand that a) breathing is underrated and b) I like my brain too much to blow something potentially crucial in it by having another one of those. Kthxbai. :)) Anyway, there are edits to be worked on and an extra large coffee with my name on it on my desk.

*snorples Lily* :D

We should make more with the pork chops anyway.

Oh and you know what Good Thing happened today? My tuition was paid. In full. As were my fees. With that Big Scholarship I won, because apparently there are people who believe in me even when I don't.

That's a Good Thing. *nod*

Okay. Took me all day yesterday and all morning, but my Army of Ten promotion is FINALLY off the group. Sheesh. Promo shouldn't be this hard.

Private Snappy is ready. I'm starting small and will try to work my way up the ranks. :D

I have a chainsaw, but I also have two axes, a scythe, a few swords, ummm oh a single shot 410 shotgun, knives, umm we can modify some of the yard tools too if we need them.

So, uh, your house for the Zombie Apocalypse?

Purgie Compound? But...but...but this would require me to leave my Dragon House. And live near other people who might even want to come over and visit! So, I'd have to put on clothes other than jammies. And have to chit chat. *My reclusive self runs screaming in terror out into the night...um morning*

Wait. The Purgie Compound requires something other than PJs? I protest.

Hi all. I repped as I went. :)

Very little actual writing got done last night, but I made some strategic cuts, dumping a whole chapter (save for 3 lines) that I really wanted to keep but didn't fit the story anymore, and then rearranging a little and updating the notes at the beginning of the chapters yet to be revised. So, few added actual words but decisive and necessary work. So, I call that a win.

Dys - yay for all paid in full and on the job training that will also be helpful as a teacher. :D

Para - yay for a space of your own

Tas - happy first day of 4th to the ninja-in-training. I sometimes think Kidlet would make an awesome MG novel heroine, fighting crime one ninja-in-training encounter at a time with her sort-of-scary-in-a-loveable-way parents :D

Kellion - happy school shopping.

Maryn - yay for happy family vacations. I miss the ocean. :(

And...I'm sure there's more but that's all I have for now.

Hi Rick! :)

Thanks for the royalty hugs and doggie advice, guys. Much appreciated. My cold has finally almost gone. You know that moment when you feel so much better than you had for days even though you're not well yet, but it actually feels exhilarating because you have ENERGY! That's me today.
He can meet other dogs with the muzzle on. Prevents him from biting. When another dog approaches, have your dog stand and wait. Don't give him a lot of leash slack. If he snaps at the other dog, tell him no or shush in a calm but firm voice. Don't yell, as that will heighten his anxiety. Socialization takes practice. When he does have a successful meet and greet, praise him. Leash length is an important thing - that's his lifeline to you, so if it's too tight, the dog feels restricted and choked and wants to get away, and if it's too loose, they have no direction from you and can't feel what they need from you, which causes anxiety in the nervous dog.

The important thing is how you react. If you're nervous meeting new dogs, he will be, too. If you jump at the sudden bark behind a fence, he'll notice. You have to be confident and in charge.
Great advice, thank you. BTW, for anyone who was worried, no Corgis were injured on that walk!

Also, I would be worried about boy Corgi's hearing, because I can yell and yell, "Come, Hurley!! Come, Hurley!!" and he'll stay right where he is at the bottom of the garden. But if I whisper, "treat" he'll come running, chubby little legs pumping in a fast blur. Yes, I know, he has my number.

Dragon, your dog sounds sweet. But why are you walking past emus??
I tend to piss people off with my uber left wing political views, so I usually just keep my mouth shut and make a mental list of the ignorant and hypocritical people so I can passive-aggressively block them. :)
I occasionally walk with a Morman woman who is very sweet, caring and good company. Recently, I had to block her posts on FB, because she posted the most outrageously insulting things about our president. I honestly don't understand such vitriol and I can't really think of her as a good walking companion again.

Blond, your promo looks like so much work! Good luck, sweetie!

((((Sammy)))

Kell, I wish I'd had a girl to dress throughout the years. *sigh* Not nearly as fun to shop for boys.

Dys, that's great news!! But, OMG for job. Yikes!

Yeah, it's pretty ridic. But I have a blogger friend helping (i.e., shouldering most of the workload) which is going to help tremendously.

Hmmm yeah, on the FB election vitriol: FB wants to send me one of those "LGBT for Obama" stickers and hey, I'd be tempted, because hey, shiny rainbow bumper sticker, but honestly, I'd be worried about my car getting vandalized, just because of how crazy some people are, so we're resisting.

Thanks for all the scholarship yays, people. I know it's ridiculously silly to need external validation as much as I seem to need it, but in all my anxious "I'm not good enough" OCD-ness, I do tend to forget all the stuff I've actually done and well, apparently some people think I can do this, so who am I to prove them wrong, right? Anyway. Thanks, everyone. :LilLove:

Ink, I'm with you on trying not to jinx the "quiet productive day" thing, because lately it seems that whenever I'm like "I will edit today!" things like sleep, stress or hell, let's just not do anything always seem to take over before I know it. So, let's do this! :)

Caleb, you should team up with me. I always look "nice" and "unassuming" to people who don't know better. Best. Camo. Ever.

Hmmm, now I'm all wistful about the ol' "let's flyer-bomb this place!" political days. I used to be good at this shit. :evil

Onoes, trouble in paradize!

We have no hot water. Apparently the rental company can't or won't do anything without the owner's say-so, and since we called him and got an answering machine, there's little reason to think they reached him. Plus there's a possibility that the part of the house locked to prying tenants, such as wherever the water heater is located, may also be locked to the property management company. Owner lives three hours hence. I'm in yesterday's clothes, we have no clean glasses or cups, and I can only wish problems like this were the worst to befall anybody.

We're fine, just somewhat annoyed that nobody seems to be on top of this. Seriously, it's a house. Things go wrong. There's no plan in place? That's what you get when a realty company in the business of selling buys a small company which was in the rental management business.

Woohoo, Dys!

Thanks for the congrats, guys. I'm excited. Of course right when I post that, I get a full rejection. But it was personalized and basically said "good writing, but the beginning was too slow," which, I mean, is nice. The agent also asked me to submit again in the future too, so at least my writing doesn't totally suck. :)

EDIT: Blond, I have a big indie bookstore near me, but I *think* they're already going to stock T3N. I'll check when it comes out.
