Call for Hot erotic romance

Thought I would share this with you... I know she still needs a lot more submissions.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Hey author friends, the mega-talented Delilah Devlin is editing another anthology for Cleis Press... check it out

*********

Hot Highlanders and Wild Knights
Editor: Delilah Devlin
Publisher: Cleis Press
Deadline: June 1, 2013
...
HOT HIGHLANDERS AND WILD KNIGHTS is open to all authors.

Editor/Author Delilah Devlin is looking for historically-themed stories—of knights and men in kilts—for a romantic erotica anthology tentatively entitled HOT HIGHLANDERS AND WILD KNIGHTS: Erotic Romance for Women.

Let your fantasies run wild to a time where men wearing heavy armor or thick tartans sent a spirited young maiden’s (or salty widow’s) heart fluttering. Imagine a primitive, simpler time where survival required physical strength and men were judged for their fierce loyalty and unshakeable honor.

Don’t feel you have to restrict your imaginings to European “knights” (Crusaders, Highlanders, Normans & Saxons, or tournament fighters)—dream about Vikings, Huns, Persians...or maybe a Samurai. A few time-travel stories may be considered as well.

Delilah will be looking for stories rich in sensory detail that explore women’s forbidden desires. A knight serving a conquering king enters a keep, his armor tarnished and smeared with dirt and blood. He scans the great hall until his gaze snags on a woman whose frightened face is nonetheless set into stubborn lines as she meets his piercing gaze... Imagine what happens next...

HOT HIGHLANDERS AND WILD KNIGHTS will seek stories to satisfy the reader who craves the romantic idea of that hard but questing man while exploring stories set in the Dark Ages. While most will likely take place in Europe, Ireland and Britain, more exotic international settings will be considered. Traditional themes/tropes can be used, but writers are encouraged to create tales that surprise. Delilah seeks unique stories from authors with strong voices, and above all, she’s looking to be seduced by tales filled with vivid imagery and passion.

Published authors with an established historical world may use that setting for their original short story.

Keeping in mind that this volume is targeted at women, the editor seeks mainly hetero stories, but will consider bisexual or lesbian encounters and polyamorous relationships. This is erotic romance, so don’t hold back on the heat. Stories can be vanilla or filled with kink, but don’t miss describing the connection between strong-willed individuals learning to trust and love one another. Keep in mind there must be a romantic element with a happy-for-now or happy-ever-after ending. Strong plots, engaging characters, and unique twists are the ultimate goal. Please no reprints. These must be original stories.

How to submit: Prepare your 2,000 to 4,500 words story in a double-spaced, Arial, 12 point, black font Word document with pages numbered (.doc, NOT.docx) OR rich text format. Indent the first line of each paragraph half an inch and double space (regular double spacing, do not add extra lines between paragraphs or do any other irregular spacing). US grammar (double quotation marks around dialogue, etc.) is required.

In your document at the top left of the page, include your legal name (and pseudonym, if applicable), mailing address, and 50 words or less bio in the third person, and send to [email protected]. If you are using a pseudonym, please provide your real name and pseudonym and make it clear which one you’d like to be credited as. Authors may submit up to 2 stories. Delilah hopes to respond with decisions in October 2013. The publisher has final approval over the stories included in the manuscript.

Payment will be $50.00 USD and two copies of the published book upon publication. Contributors retain the rights to their work, although the editor requests the courtesy of authors not republishing their work until at least 6 months after the publication of this anthology.

Ms. Devlin has published over a hundred twenty stories in multiple sub-genres and lengths with Atria/Strebor, Avon, Berkley, Black Lace, Cleis Press, Ellora’s Cave, Kensington, Kindle, Montlake Romance, Running Press, and Samhain Publishing. In Fall 2011, she debuted her first anthology with Cleis Press, GIRLS WHO BITE. Since then, she has published SHE SHIFTERS and COWBOY LUST. SMOKIN’ HOT FIREFIGHTERS and SEX OBJECTS release in summer 2013.

Direct any questions you have regarding your story or the submission process to Delilah at [email protected]

WON’T BACK DOWN – ANTHOLOGY COLLECTION

Won’t Back Down MMA. Jousting Knights. Dueling swordsman. Gladiators. Men and women who have honed their bodies and skills to face off against whatever rivals or challenges come at them. They do it for the money, for the love, or possibly just out of necessity. They aren’t afraid of bruises, blood, and broken bones. Less Than Three Press is seeking stories about people who aren’t afraid of a fight, whatever their motivation might be.

THE DETAILS:

  • Deadline is OCTOBER 31, 2013 11:59 EST (GMT -5) (give or take, we won’t kill you for sending it off the following morning).
  • Stories should be at least 10,000 words and should not exceed approx 30,000 words in length.
  • Stories must be LGBTQ (threesomes, etc. are acceptable, but all parties must be the same gender).
  • Stories must have a happily ever after (HEA) or happy for now (HFN) end.
  • Any sub-genre is gladly accepted: sci-fi, mystery, contemporary, steampunk, etc.
  • All usual LT3 submission guidelines apply.
Won’t Back Down is a general release anthology, meaning stories will be sold as a compiled ebook in the LT3 book market.
Payment will be $200 on acceptance of the story. Authors will receive one copy each of the ebook formats LT3 produces and two copies of the paperback compilation.
Stories should be complete before submitting, and as edited as possible. They can be submitted in any format (doc, docx, rtf, odt, etc), preferably single spaced with a space between paragraphs, in an easy to read font (Times, Calibri, Arial) with no special formatting (no elaborate section separation, special fonts, etc). Beneath the Cape
Superheroes Anthology

They walk through the shadows, fighting for a world that sees them through the filter of a mask. They might be strengthened by will, like Batman or the Scarlet Pimpernel. They might be strengthened by magic, like John Constantine or Doctor Strange. They may be strengthened by science, like Iron Man or Spiderman. These are the Superheros. Something has called them to fight; a desire for justice, a sense of responsibility, a hunger for revenge. Perhaps the greatest irony is that from behind a mask, they can show who they really are. And, as dangerous as it can be to fight, it can be even more dangerous to love, whether that love is a fellow hero, a plucky reporter, a staunch sidekick, or even a brooding nemesis.

Submissions should:

- Have at least one Superhero or Supervillain as the main character.
- Have a romantic entanglement as a major plot element.
- Be a minimum of 10k, maximum of 40k.
- Actual superpowers are not necessary, but there must be something that makes the main character extraordinary enough to be considered 'super'.
- Any subgenre is welcome and all prohibitive guidelines are observed.

Release Date:September 2013
Submission Deadline: July 31, 2013

Submit Completed Submissions to special_submissions @ mlrpress .com

Like a Rolling Stone

Erotic Tales of Rock and Roll Fantasy (and science fiction)
edited by H.B. Kurtzwilde

Deadline: December 1, 2013

Circlet Press seeks short stories for the latest in our anthology series of erotic science fiction & fantasy ebooks. Like a Rolling Stone will combine three of our favorite things in one book: rock and roll, erotica, and sf/f. And since sex and rock and roll already go hand in hand, that shouldn’t be too difficult, eh?

Whether at the height of stardom or the deepest pits of ramen-only survival, the rock band stands as living gods, no matter the time period or pantheon. Can art and passion forge a family, or will those fires burn out everything that was good and right when the song first sounded? Every age needs heroes, and every hero needs his song. Like a Rolling Stone seeks to collect the stories of those who have knelt at the altar of rock, and found their calling.

In a junked out spaceship, the legend lives on. Deep in the heart of the elven forest, a rebel plays. Somewhere between the cyber static, a sound emerges to save a soul. A steam engine churns power to a mad invention, and melody never before heard by man cries out as a new age is born. The rock and roll adventure lives in every world, but all adventurers know it’s dangerous to go alone.

MORE DETAILS ON SUBMITTING:

Length: Our preferred length is approximately 3500 to 7500 words, but we will consider the range from 2000 to 10,000 words.

How to submit: Send plain text, .rtf, or .doc via email to the submissions address of KurtzwildeEditor @ gmail.com

About the editor: H.B. Kurtzwilde is the Lambda-award nominated author of Chocolatiers of the High Winds, along with many other fantastical and futuristic fictions.

Call for Submissions: Erotic Detective Stories

Searching out secrets and uncovering what’s hidden, detectives have been a staple of literature for centuries.

Speculative fiction is no exception–from noir-descended private eyes in cyberpunk and urban fantasy, to police procedurals featuring special supernatural crime-solving divisions, to historical investigators using the latest steampunk technologies to solve the mystery. We want stories about all of these and more–and the erotic adventures they have on their way to cracking the case. Do they fall for femmes (or hommes) fatales? Do they employ some unorthodox methods to get information out of a suspect or a witness? Do they find themselves growing closer to their partner in crime-solving?

Submission deadline is 5/15/2013.

All sexualities and gender expressions are welcomed.

This ebook anthology is being edited by Nikola Klaus, editor of Like a Midsummer Night: Erotic Shakespeare.

For submission details, read on.

Length: Our preferred length is approximately 3500 to 7500 words, but we will consider the range from 2000 to 10,000 words.

How to Submit: All submissions must be made via email to Nikola Klaus, editor, at the following address: nklaus.circlet @ gmail.com

Only email submissions are accepted. Submissions sent to other addresses/other editors at Circlet Press will not be considered. Standard manuscript formatting rules apply even though sending as an attachment (MS Word .doc or .rtf preferred). Please note that this means your name, address, and email contact must appear on the manuscript itself and not simply in your email message. (If you’re not sure what a standard short story submission format should look like, Google is your friend.)

No simultaneous submissions (that is, don’t also send your story elsewhere at the same time, and don’t send it to multiple Circlet editors, either), and no multiple submissions to the same book. One story per author per anthology, thanks.

All stories must include explicit sexuality and erotic focus. Romantic content is welcome, but in a short story remember to keep the details on the action and its effects on the main character’s internal point of view. We favor a strong, singular narrative voice (no ‘head hopping’ or swapping between different character’s points of view within a scene). For more details on our editorial preferences, see the general submission guidelines on circlet.com. We highly recommend reading the guidelines, especially the “do not send” list, to increase your chances of sending us something we’ll love. Try to avoid cliches. Fresh and direct language is preferred to overly euphemistic. Sex-positive, please, no rape/nonconsensuality/necrophilia or other purposefully gross topics. We do not publish horror.

Originals only, no reprints. We purchase first rights for inclusion in the ebook anthology for $25, with the additional rights to a print edition later which would also be paid $25 if a print edition happens. Authors retain the rights to the individual stories; Circlet exercises rights to the anthology as a whole.

Call for Submission
One Night In

Imagine the scenario. One night of passion in an exotic locale, a quick read with a lasting romance, and the promise of a happily ever after. Could there be anything better? We don’t think so. One Night In… is a new line of stories that will take readers on a romantic journey. Read on for details!

Have a great idea for short, sexy romance on the road? Entangled Novellas wants to see it! Whether one or both characters have embarked on a road trip, business trip, foreign port visit, planned vacay, spontaneous getaway, or any other short jaunt, characters should step outside of their comfortable worlds and into a fling or one night stand that changes everything. Whether Stateside or foreign, they are two modern adults who won’t back down from a hook up…and won’t want to let go when it’s time to go home.

Stories should be contemporary romances with a moderate to high heat level, 10k-40k words, focused on a one night stand or fling with a ticking clock (e.g. a non-refundable plane ticket home) and complicated by a fun, light-hearted romance trope (e.g. fake marriage, enemies to lovers, boardroom romance) that pulls the characters into bed even as it threatens to tear them apart. Stories should end positively with at least the promise of a HFN or a HEA obvious on the distant horizon. Submit stories at http://entangledpublishing.submittable.com, attention ONE NIGHT IN. If you would prefer to work with a particular editor, address your query letter to that person. Stories of 10k-15k words should be submitted as Flirts, and stories of 20k-40k should be submitted as Ever Afters. We’re open to characters of any ethnicity, race, or nationality and to stories with multi-cultural pairings and f/f, m/m, or m/f pairings.

I know that our mods and Mac have probably already done this in a sticky, and I'm not singling out any specific publication. But many of our erotica forum members may not wander that much into other areas of AW.

Please, please, do extensive research on all publications before you submit work to them. If anything, this lets you know more about their submission guidelines, so you know if your work might have a better chance to fit their needs.

Uh-oh, Filigree, you may have inadvertently tapped yourself to craft a post which starts a thread for erotica writers: How to research a publisher.

Seriously, a lot of people who are relatively new to this may not know what they need to find out or how and where to get that information once they know what it is.

I'm aware that many erotica writers do not traverse the site as a whole, so a how-to for this board might be excellent. We could all contribute what has worked for us, and what has not, and later maybe I could cobble it all together with a first-post sticky, which is why I'm going to go start such a thread now, so I can edit all the information into it.

I don't really mean to assign the chore to Filigree; that's a joke.

Maryn, hilarious

No, actually, I'm up for it. I'll have to be careful about not mentioning specific publishers, but I have dropped tidbits here and there. If I direct them to you, should we make an Aunty Filigree sticky thread? I did a blog post about it (Filigree's Rule and others) a month or two ago, but research could be expanded.

Thing is, all this stuff already exists in AW in some very good general stickies, which we should also link to.

With erotica and erotic romance, the two main points I've stumbled into are: 1) Sales potential and marketing responsibilities of each publisher, and 2) the various publisher guidelines. Each of those areas contain pitfalls that can bite an inexperienced writer (and I am still very much one of those!)

Wanders off scratching ass head, to look up old research posts.

Thanks for the submission information. Is it more common to have to send an attachment as opposed to in the body of the e-mail.
Are any of you on Duotrope Digest.

That's going to be specific to each publisher/agent, I'm afraid. Most of the time you'll start with a query letter and a few sample pages in the body of the email. Due to security reasons, it's not a good idea to send attachments unless you have been told to do so, and in what format.

I'm not on Duotrope, sorry.

I'm on Duotrope. I don't find the erotic romance listings very extensive. I've had to ask them to add several in, so I could use the submission tracker with them. Not sure I'll renew for next year, though the data was nice to have.

Crimson Romance Writer’s Guidelines
Our romance eBook line is open to romance submissions in five popular subgenres: romantic suspense, contemporary, paranormal, historical, and spicy (sexy) romance.

Within those subgenres, we are flexible about what happens. It’s romance, so there must be a happily-ever-after, but we’re open to how your characters get there. Everyone has to be a consenting adult. Other than that, we’re looking for smart, savvy heroines, fresh voices, and new takes on old favorite themes.

We’re looking for full-length novels (at least 40,000 words) and at this time are not publishing novellas. We are open to considering one-author story collections.

If you have a finished novel you’d like for us to consider, please just drop editor Jennifer Lawler a line at [email protected] with a brief description of your work–please, no attachments until requested. That’s it! We’ll get back to you as quickly as we can–within a few days for queries and within a few weeks if we request a full.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot consider works that have been previously published in whole or in part in any media, including self-publishing (Kindle, CreateSpace, etc.). Your manuscript must be entirely original and unpublished.

Short Story Romance Submissions

We’re currently seeking submissions for short story romances (about 5,000 to 10,000 words, but don’t let word count keep you from submitting – we’re flexible) for collections on the following themes:

Holidays:
Christmas (submit stories by June 1, 2013)
New Year’s Eve (submit stories by June 1, 2013)
Valentine’s Day (submit stories by August 1, 2013)

Themes:
Sports/professional athlete hero (submit stories by July 31, 2013)
Any heat level is fine.

Have an idea for a collection not listed here? Drop us a line and we’ll consider it.

Please submit your full story to [email protected] with “Short Story Submission – [intended collection]” in the subject line. If we get enough submissions to publish more than one title in each category, we will.

Wild and Wanton Line

One of Crimson Romance’s most popular subgenres is our Wild and Wanton line, and we’re seeking authors who can write for this line. Wild and Wanton books take classics (like Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice) and turn them into erotic novels by adding sexually explicit scenes between the characters that readers already know and love.

Wild and Wanton authors add these scenes using same tone, voice, and style as the original work. The added scenes must fit in with the original novel’s story arc and character development.

Like to give it a try? Send along a 2-3 page erotic scene you’ve written for a classic novel (it must be in the public domain). Paste the scene into your email (we won’t open attachments). Let us know if you have written and/or published any romances. Include a list of classic titles you’d be interested in working on in case the book you base your sample on has already been contracted.

Do note that we have already released or have under contract Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, and Far from the Madding Crowd.

Submit to [email protected] with the subject line “Wild and Wanton sample.”

Thank you for your interest!

Hot Ink Press

I had to take the images out. I tried to lift just the text, but for some reason the images wouldn't allow me to do so. In any event, Hot Ink Press has two special calls right now- Ghosts, Vampire and Werebears oh my, and the Black Moments. So click though and see if it is something you are interested in.

December holiday call from Loose Id

Received the following call from Treva Harte EiC at Loose Id:

What is the best December holiday you wish you'd ever had? Hey! You're an author. Make that happen for some lucky characters at Loose Id.

We'd love to see what you come up with for the ideal holiday--along with hot sex and romance, of course. We're sure there will be complications on the way before they get that happy holiday.

Loose Id will want at least novella length (20,001 words on up) stories that would be due by Oct. 5. All stories should follow LI submissions guidelines.

Send to your editor or, if you don't have an editor, to [email protected] with the subject heading DIY December.
