What is a "boutique press"?

One small press I've worked with did twice as much editing as the Big Six (now Five) publisher I worked with, so I don't think it's fair to generalize that all small presses won't edit or market. I've had great experiences with some small presses--gorgeous design, high quality product, very specialized niche. (And for stretched thin and overworked, allow me to point you to many Big Five editors of my acquaintance!)

They vary. Don't trust or dismiss out of hand. About all you say that will be true of ALL small presses is that they will be small.
