Complete 20 short stories and 1 novel. By complete, I mean drafted and revised and critiqued.

Getting one of these published would be a bonus.

Start submitting stuff again. I got a ton of rejections earlier this year, polished things up, but stopped submitting out of fear. Now I want to start again.
(I feel like I should say 'to write x number of words' or 'x number of pages.' But really, I wrote several first drafts and I've been so scatterbrained lately that I feel like I need to finish something.)

I want to publish, or have out for publication, four new books in 2015, whether fiction, nonfiction, or a combination. If I get enough stories or articles out that the word count totals that of a short book, I'll count that as one book. I'm at the revising stage on one nonfiction book now, so that will give me a jump on it. I also have rough drafts of another nonfiction book and a YA fantasy. :)

My writing goal is to have book 2 finished and in tip top shape, and to have made a massive dent in book 3.

'Goal' sounds soooooo much better than 'deadline.'

I can only commit to two goals.

1. Finish my near future SF novel and send a submission-ready draft to my agent in May.

2. Finish a new and thorough revision of an existing novel by the end of summer, and send that to my agent.

I have a third novel project I'd like to tackle, but the second half of the year depends on what happens with items #1 and #2.

But to make those first two items, I am switching to part time status until July.

Finish, polish and submit book 2 of Treading the Boards (50% done first draft right now).

Write, polish and submit book 3 (vague outline stage now).

Sit down and redraft my outline for Historical WIP. I had a semi-okay start going, but the structure, voice and POV characters need total reworks now that I've changed direction. I'd love to get into the writing portion of this as well, but I need to make sure I have a solid structure for it first.

My goal is to meet my contractual obligations, once I have them. Things are in the works and anything that I sign my name to do gets top priority.

What I would like to do besides:

Revise the fantasy novel this year so my agent can get it out on submission.

Write a sequel to Close Quarter.

Finish the m/f paranormal short story I've been toying with for ages

Finish the wacky space opera co-written story

Write some suitporn novellas

But in the end, It looks like I can only output about 120K per year, so... not sure how much I'll actually get done.

Get this R&R out the door.

Finish two other manuscripts in varying states of decay.

Figure out where I stand with two pubbed novels that are lingering in limbo.

  1. Publish The Sad Girl Sequel. At the moment, I’m at 41k words, and expecting it to end up around 70k. Goal: 1st draft completed by 31 January 2015. Published by 30 May 2015.
  2. Release Don’t Stop Believin’ to Wattpad. I rewrote a substantial portion of it a while back, so it’s in draft 1.5. Goal: Start weekly chapter release in April 2015.
  3. Finish the first draft of the first book in my Red Dirt Justice or Paratus Group series. Still not sure at this point which series I want to start. I think my goal for now is going to be one book in each series every year. I’ve got 1 solid idea for Paratus Group, and about half a dozen for Red Dirt Justice. Goal: 30 September 2015.
  4. Write a supporting short story for the book in #3 in the 7.5 – 10k and publish to Wattpad or Kindle. Fall 2015.
  5. Plot/outline the second book in whichever series I start in #3. Fall 2015.
  6. Write two substantial blog posts per month. “Substantial” as in at least 500 words, and more than just “I did this and that and the other thing.” Book and product reviews count. Administrative posts don’t. I have been horribly deficient in keeping my blog up. I really want to change that.
  7. Revisit/report on these goals monthly.

Fruity dared me, so here are my shameless selfie-whoring goals for the New Year.

Get Catnip 2 published. Sell more of Catnip (and all my other books, duh)

Submit and have at LEAST two more books published either digitally or in paperback or both, preferably both.

Have sex more often...but that's not part of this forum, so why did I write that? :D

Find an agent. Sex would not be a requirement.

Make a million sales. (A guy can dream, can't he?)

Annoy Laverne more.:tongue

@cmhbob- Monthy check-ins here would be great motivation, for me anyway.

@JSF- If you got a million sales, you'd probably get lots more sex. Look at Donald and Hugh. :p

1. Finally get UF novel into query stage (I'm just starting the fourth pass). And query it. Then start edits on the second in the trilogy.

2. Finish writing the first draft of SF novel.

3. Finally fix up the old stories I have stagnating (or retire them) and resubmit. Fix the multiple first drafted stories I wrote this last year and never got back to. Getting less rejections would be nice but I don't really have control over that for some reason :p

4. Not get sick. Please.

1. Finish book 1 for publication in August.

2. Finish writing book 2 draft.

3. Submit at least 5 short stories.

4. Write a novella and enter it in the Griffith Review novella project.

5. As always, write one thing of any length that I really love.

My goals are somewhat dependent on outside events, because Things have stopped me writing so much this year and, for the foreseeable future, will continue to do so.

However:

1 - I have three books coming out this year (and still have edits to go on book 3 and copy edits on all of them), so I'm going finish the bloody things and try to promo the hell out of them when they come out.
2 - Pitch/hopefully sell new series, and get started on it.

Any more than that would be a bonus, atm. If anyone wants to offer my Old Man a decent job so I can go back to part time, and/or find a cure for ME, it'd help a lot.

I want to finish my Nano novel. Or at least get it to a point where it is a full, reasonably complete document, so that next year I can focus on farming it out.

I wish I had more goals, but frankly it took me three days to come up with that one.

Finish my current WIP and start querying agents. (I gave myself a deadline of February 28 for finishing it, and so far it's looking like I'll meet that without much trouble.)

Start the next WIP and be into revisions by the end of the year.

1.) Finish my first full length novel.

2.) Come up with a title for said novel that I don't completely hate.

3.) Submit 5 to 10 short stories.

1) Finish the WIPs in my signature.
2) Start a new blog and update it every day, even if it's to say there's nothing new for the day.

1. Survive the publication of my debut in March with my sanity intact. I hope I can just enjoy the process, no matter how well or poorly the book does.

2. Hopefully sell my second novel at some point (though people keep telling me my career is "probably over" if this one tanks. Yikes!).

3. Finish another project.
