It's been awhile since I paid any attention to FSoG, but, I think she self-pubbed. At least the first book. After it took off, I guess the money meant more than quality?
FSoG - the perfect example of what NOT to do when writing a book (horribly written, and I saw several things on page one alone that were included in a list of why agents/publishers say no to a book). Yet it is a perfect example of what TO DO when trying to sell one - it got lots of hype and people had to go read it just to find out what all the hype was about.
