Hey, I know it's old, I'm writing anyway...

Liberal
Progressive
Socialist

Definetly not in that order--I'd put socialist first. I didn't put democrat because they're all pansies about being called liberals.

I'd say Trotskyist, but since that's not there, I had to select the vague "socialist".

Xx|I'd say I'm a heavily right-leaning independent. Biggest things I'm against are censoring, pandering, victimizing, and socialism. And idiots, but that goes without saying, I should hope. So ultimately I'd vote for whoever best represented those views. Most often a conservative. Drawback is the far-right mega-religious. Sure, I uphold, you know, good values such as those featured in Christianity (that is to say, good values are good values, religious or not), but just because something is immoral solely to a religion (not just "against good value", but definitely completely religious) doesn't mean they can't do it. Everyone has a right to be wrong...

Woo, I'm mincing words. Juuust great. XD I made some level of sense, I hope. Besides, I doubt anyone reads this. XD

pandering

This is actually the legal term for "pimping" prostitutes, which was coined by a judge who became self-conscious about driving around in his fancy Cadillac and was afraid of being drawn into the stereotype.

Unless you meant to say, "Panda ring", which is a group of international criminals who sneak into China to steal pandas for rich American children to play with.

Xx|I've never heard that before, actually. But no, I said it right. Words have more than one meaning. ;) :tongue

1. indulge weaknesses: to indulge somebody’s weaknesses or questionable wishes and tastes
tired of pandering to their children’s demands

n (plural pan·ders)
1. or pander (plural panders) or panderer (plural panderers); somebody who indulges another’s weaknesses: somebody who indulges another’s weaknesses or questionable wishes and tastes (disapproving)
XD

Seriously, though. I disapprove of all of that--stealing pandas, pimping/prostitution. I meant it, though, referring to idiots/media/politicians who say whatever just to get the vote.

And a distributist, which of course no one ever has on polls. I think we're too small to even be a minority

Liberal independent. I don't count myself as a Democrat so much since I live in New Jersey, and well, other than my Congressional rep Rush Holt, I've yet to find a decent Dem here worth voting for.

However, as a lesbian and a pro-choice woman, I cannot, in good conscience vote Republican. No. Way. In. Hell.

Since I'm a Christian, tax paying, pro-defense, freedom minded person, I could never vote for any democrat. No way in hell.

Hmmm...this poll is FASCINATING. I once had an argument with a co-worker that I could find more liberal-leaning artists than conservative ones, there goes that theory! Anyhow it's great that this forum is so diverse.

Like Infinity Goddess a few posts up I'm a liberal independent, but can't bring myself to vote for either major party (however, I do not live in New Jersey). I signed up for the unity08.com election, just to try something new -- they want to run an independent ticket with one liberal and one conservative. But ordinarily I lean more to the left rather than straight down the middle. The election next year will be rather interesting, to say the very least.

What's the best government as prescribed by the Bible?

I view myself as a 'Lincoln Republican' but since no-one in America really understands their own history I claimed the conservative button. I don't follow the 'Republican Line' so much as they too have forgotten their true role in politics. That said, however, the Republican Party offers candidates that more often appeal to my sense of Limited Federal Government and National Security (as compaired to Dems.) I do tend to lean towards the Libertarian ideology but they fail me when it comes to foreign affairs. I believe America has not only the proper ideas but also the "Manifest Destiny" to bring 'Democratic Enlightenment' to the rest of the world. And since the revolution in 1776 the world has only benefitted from this program of 'individual liberty' and 'civic enlightenment.' Count the 'Democracies' in 1776 and then compare that number to today's 'Democracies.' Yes, America has had help in this endevour, but true 'Individual Liberty' gained power from the American influence worldwide - with a little help from France and later on (after 1812) England.

The one choice I wish I had in the poll - Imperialist! (That - I am!)

And the best Government in the Bible - 'Totalitarian Dictatorship!' Say what you will but a single person (Jesus/God/Holyspirit) in absolute command of EVERYTHING in your life sure sounds like Totalitarian Dictatorship. But it's not so bad when the Dictator is a benevolent ruler. The better (more palatable) phrase may be 'Imperial Authority.':2angel:

Too bad we can't get a Fred Thompson/Barak Obama ticket.

Yeah, it's a shame centrists like these haven't gotten more involved with Unity08, where such a ticket would be possible, but it's still early. Personally I'm going for a Kang/Kodos ticket in '08, although I'm not looking forward to having to build their gargantuan laser beam...:)

In the 1960's I used to be a hippie/musician and liked it, got a draft notice and joined the 82d Airborne and liked that, too.
I'm flexible, and a survivor.
I have no political ideals, and think most professional politicians are insane.
I attended private religious oriented schools for my education, and don't believe in or trust any overtly religious groups or aggressivly religious individuals. I think most of these people are insane, too.
I vote Democrat, but believe in capitalsm because I have a little money and want to keep, and I hate the self-serving smarmy arrogance of the Republicans.
I'm a gun-owning socially leftish-capitalist-anarchist Democrat who likes dogs.

Choclative Coorslightist with a tendency towards Nascarism, and unabashed chilidogophile.

(Though I admit, once in college, I tried vegetarian lasagna and I liked it! I won't deny it!)

We don't allow Coorslightists on these boards. Change your ways and beg forgiveness.

Now!
I can't! They won't let me leave the commune until David Stremme wins a cup race. http://www.nascar.com/drivers/dps/dstremme00/cup/

Maybe if Dawno sprinkled a few eggplants or sparkles on me, I might switch to Budlightist, but only until the end of November...

Hey! I just realized we're in Charlotte this week; it's a night race!

It's interesting to see how balanced things are between liberal/conservative & democrat/republican (but the libertarians are inching ahead!) Could it be that the "us vs them" categories that they keep trying to shoehorn us into don't mean anything?
