who lived
in their once world
came down this river

where have they
gone -

burnt rocks
in the fields

fish bones
that once swam
prehistoric

amour-plated
bugs

II

twang of bow-strings
still vibrate
at twilight

red shards
reflect
in the blue ripples

Evocative and ghostly, I really like this, Steppe.

I do wonder about "amour-plated bugs". Everything else is of a piece but that phrase confuses me. At first I thought it was a typo for "armor-plated" but then, no, I think he meant "amour" but, what is it?

I could take a journey with it though.

I had the very same thoughts. Love does act as a protection against some things though.
