A friend of mine needs to be able to bill clients who want to pay with a credit card. Even though you don't need a PayPal account to use a credit card to submit a payment, some people refuse to or can't use PayPal.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative? I was going to suggest Square, but that involves a card swiper. He needs something that works strictly over the web.

A search turns up a lot of options, some I've heard mentioned before, but none anyone I personally know has used. It'd take more digging to verify they're legit and reliable. A few, however, stand out due to the big names backing them.

Google Wallet: http://www.google.com/wallet/
Amazon Payments: https://payments.amazon.com/home
Intuit is by the makers of Quicken/Quickbooks software: http://payments.intuit.com/
Chase has their own site that may be an option: http://www.chasepaymentech.com/

Each have different fees and ToS.

Thanks, Bicycle!

I haven't investigated those last two yet and will do so in a few minutes.

Google Wallet seems to be smartphone-dependent, which won't work for him. (He sometimes has to use it while on assignment abroad, where his phone doesn't work.)

Amazon seems to require setting up an online storefront.

But those other two--from the super-quick glance I've just given them--seem much more promising! Last night I also discovered ProPay:

http://www.propay.com

One of those three (ProPay, Intuit, Chase) ought to work.

Many thanks!
