Just got back from an emergency trip to the vet.
Came home from lunch, picked up my Peke and he SCREAMED! and suddenly I feel blood against my fingers.
We call then rush to the vet. Housemate has a paper towel pressed against his side. We go through three before we get there. I'm just this side of panic and I'm driving.
He's had a cyst for some time (which was being treated) and it suddenly ruptured internally, which stretched the skin beneath it taunt, so when I picked him up, it ruptured externally, thus all the blood.
Because it was an infected cyst, all that gunk is now in his bloodstream, so he's now on antibiotics to prevent serious infections. Vet said to put a pad against it to soak up the blood and ooze and to put a baby's shirt on him to keep it in place. He hates this. He can't get comfortable 'cause this is the side he always sleeps on. Even more, the other dogs are hounding him because he smells funky.
This is gonna be a fun night. At least I'll be home for it, though.
