It's -9 here right now, with a windchill of like -30. We put fleece blankets over all the windows and that seems to have helped a lot.

Ayup, it's cold here.

I had ice on the *inside* of my kitchen windows last night. It's warmed up some, but still awfully frigid out there.

We let the dogs outside and two of them froze their paws in under five minutes, to the point they couldn't walk and had to be carried in. We've done this twice now. Fortunately, they're both smaller dogs.

Yeah, I'll be glad to get back into the 20's tomorrow. I don't know how people stand this on a regular basis.

Well that was fun. I decided to call my father. It's my mom's birthday today.

He didn't remember. So I decided it was best not to remind him.

After he spent a few moments talking about the neighbor kids, I made the mistake of mentioning how my book came out last week.

There was a 10 second moment of silence and then he asked about how cold it was here.

Really knows how to make me feel special.

I can handle the cold much better than I can deal with the mind-melting heat in Arizona in the summer.

I had a job interview in Phoenix last July. The minute I stepped out of the airport, I decided there was no amount of money in the world that was worth taking that job.

:D And it wasn't even our hottest summer on record in AZ this last year. :D

I think our hottest ever was 117 around these parts, maybe 120.

This.

You can bundle up to beat the cold, but at a certain point, there's only so many things to take off when it's hot.

Summer in Shanghai was like stepping out into a sauna. Hated it.
