Hi,

I have three full manuscripts out at well-known agencies. It has been about 8 weeks since I sent and all notified me it was received. How long do I wait before I say something?

Some agencies will mention their typical response times on their site or a blog. In my case I had one out for 6 months before hearing back. I've known others where it was almost a year. But I believe it's usually closer to 3 months.

QueryTracker tracks turn-around times for submissions. Why not look them up there. If you're over three months and beyond the median and average wait-times for manuscripts, then you can nudge, but not before.

Also, some agents blog/twitter about where they are in their piles. You might want to look into that too.

Congrats on the requests! As the others said, I'd definitely give it 3-6 months. I've had fulls out for a year. (Of course by then I'd given up on them.)
