It hasn't stopped me watching, but I don't understand it as an artistic decision.
Now, realistically, sometimes people act in entirely irrational ways, especially when they're traumatized. It'd be reasonable to see every single living human on the show as having PTSD.
But -- if they can get their heads together and make logical decisions, the world they're in is still inherently dangerous. Rather than have them get into trouble through inexplicable stupidity, it'd be way more interesting to see them do everything right -- or most things, with some inevitable missteps -- but still be barely holding their own, just because the dangers are so great.
