Hi,
I have a gig coming up where I have to interview 2 Italian guys. I have a crummy old digital voice recorder that I bought at Walgreens a few years ago, but that's not gonna cut it.

The only requirement I can think of is that it must be able to handle changes in volume with no loss of audio quality (I'm expecting things to get pretty loud!)
Does anyone have any recommendations for techniques for recording interviews?
Do you guys have any experience with DVR's and could you recommend one?

Oh, that's a little more than what I can afford! My budget allows for something around $100.
... and what's a Dead Kitten?

Tascam DR-05? You could always just search amazon.

Rode Dead Kitten. It's a windscreen--quite an expensive one, but it works. Dunno if you'd call it the best or worse name ever.

Zoom make good digital recorders too - worth checking out.

Also make sure you check prices on musical instrument / studio equipment stores. Amazon isn't always the cheapest for this type of thing. If you're UK or Europe-based, try www.dv247.com or www.thomann.de. Sometimes they're cheaper - other times not.
