Apparently it depends on the book. I sway anywhere from Stephenie Meyer *shudder* to Rudyard Kipling to Ernest Hemingway.

seems to me like the equivalent of taking an online quiz to see which celebrity you're most likely to date :tongue

It seems I write like Jack London. Okay by me if it's true.

Novel opening: HP Lovecraft
Novel last chapter: Chuck Palahniuk
Short story 1: Margarat Atwood
Flash story: Dan Brown
Short Story 2: James Joyce

So, either I have no style of my own, or this test is crap.

That's a really fun thingie there. I checked it out, 3 excerpts each:

CHERRY: Stephen King, Stephen King, William Gibson *who?* (oh, a cyberpunk author/noir prophet. But of course!)

EFFIN' ALBERT: J.D. Salinger!!!! Stephen King, and Mark effin' Twain.

Hilarious.

TWINK: Stephen King, William Gibson (wha!) and, um, William Gibson. (Should I be nervous?)

one more, it's addicting!

MY FRIEND MIKE: Chuck Palahniuk, Harry Harrison (note: per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Harrison_(writer), "Harrison was an extremely popular figure in the SF world, renowned for being amiable, outspoken and endlessly amusing. His quickfire, machine-gun delivery of words was a delight to hear, and a reward to unravel: he was funny and self-aware, he enjoyed reporting the follies of others, he distrusted generals, prime ministers and tax officials with sardonic and cruel wit, and above all he made plain his acute intelligence and astonishing range of moral, ethical and literary sensibilities. . .")

Stopping whilst I'm ahead. :D

A Newbie here but while I was waiting on "Posting Approval" I put some stuff on the "I Write Like" site.

I know this is not really a judge of writing style or skill, as has been mentioned earlier in this thread.

It was fun to play with the site.

I was happy to see it didn't come up with Yosemite Sam, Daffy Duck or Goofy!!:)

First example: Ian Fleming

Second Example: Ian Fleming

Third Example: Raymond Chandler

Fourth Example: J.D. Salinger
