If epub royalty-only publishing, or self-publishing are not an option for one reason or other, but you just can't seem to get an agent through whom to reach the advance-payers, then this is for you.

The lowest level publishers in this list very likely have less of a chance of turning your book into a success than an epub giant like Samhain or Carina or one of them new big-six epub imprints. But you never know. Research the websites, read the relevant forum discussions and go for it.

Disclaimer 1: Romance and erotica houses aren't mentioned here, because I didn't research them.

Disclaimer 2: Neither are provincial houses mentioned, who explicitly accept only certain nationalities (Australian, Canadian, American, British, etc.) If you believe a house like this would be best suited for you - dig them up.

Disclaimer 3: With no agent, even the biggest houses, should they accept you, will probably try to get all your rights past, present, and future, for a pittance. That's the nature of capitalism - everyone wants from the other the most stuff for the least expense. Educate yourself.

Also your Dark Prints link isn't working. They're not open to submissions till a year from now anyway so it wouldn't matter.

Thank you for making this fine list.

However I fear that some of the publishers on it won't necessarily offer an advance if you submit direct.

I have heard for example that while Kensington gives advances for print run deals eKensington does not offer an advance.

Publishers should realize though, with all the new and varied options out there, offering some kind of advance on digital lines is likely to attract authors to choose to submit to your imprint over others.

There is a lot of choice out there right now.
