I researched the Internet and this forum for details on preparing my manuscript for submission to a potential publishing house. This one site seamed to have a good start to finish format suggestion.

Do you agree with this blog or does your experience say otherwise.

That looks pretty solid to me. The salient point, of course, being that first you make it conform to any requirements in Submission Guidelines, defaulting to the other methods only if there's nothing in the guidelines about format.

One thing I've seen could have been made clearer. My understanding is that if you use Times New Roman you can italicize, but that if you opt for Courier, you still underline.

Different publishers want different formats for submissions. If you are doing simultaneous submissions, be sure to keep accurate records and manuscript files that spell out clearly which format went to which publisher, so there will be no surprises when the final comes out.
