Do any of you represent authors that are signed with category houses, mainly Harlequin? Is it important in that kind of field to have an agent, or do you find your hands are pretty much tied, due to the nature of their contracts?

Most contracts are negotiable.

What's also significant is whether there are foreign and subsidiary rights to exploit here. If there's no further market then an agent might feel that there's not enough money to be made representing the author concerned.

If you can actually get a good agent, of course it's worth it.
