Aww, boo. I watch all the episodes on Youtube -- I only have basic cable!
This reminds me of Turner deciding you could only watch episodes free online if you already pay for cable -- in which case, it's not really free.

They underestimate us greatly if they think simply removing the episodes from Youtube or more tightly controlling the content will slow or stop us. I'm not sure that's really the case, I'm more in favor of the view that they're getting ready to release the episodes on DvD format, in which case they should remove the episodes from Youtube.I think this is more or less what happened:
1. Both Hub and Hasbro agreed that Youtube videos of the show were no big deal.
2. MLP:FiM got an adult male fanbase.
3. Hasbro, being the large, sleepy corporation that it is, ignored them.
4. The Hub went, "YES! We have a hit show! Make promos for the fans! Focus on fan-favorite characters! Whee!"
5. Hasbro thought about it for a minute and said, "Well, make sure it still sells to little girls. Fewer monster plots, less danger, and more songs."
6. The Hub complied with season 2.
7. At some point, someone at Hasbro thought to check on the new fanbase and found both porn and grimdark material.
8. Hasbro management freaked the fuck out and launched 'Operation: Kill the Brony Fanbase'.
9. Direct assault on Youtube is casualty number one. Greater control over the show i nseason 3 will be casualty number two.
It's a shame. If Hasbro were smart, they'd launch an edgier spin-off show that appealed to the teenage market. They could make a mint licensing merchandise to sell to that group. There's some sign they intend to try that -- I've seen MLP:FiM school notebooks. But I don't think they'll allow their core franchise to be tainted. Well, it was fun while it lasted.
Not that it's over, really.
10. Starved for adult-oriented cute animal content, a thousand new non-pony settings and characters are created by artists everywhere. In a few years one of them is sure to turn into the next big fandom...
You do make a good point about licensing agreements. And I'm hoping that the token resistance thing is what Hasbro is doing. Like only occasionally taking down a set of videos. And judging by the fact that they haven't been taking down videos constantly, it does seem that way.Putting up a token resistance to people uploading episodes onto Youtube is probably cheaper than losing international TV ad revenue.
It's quite possible that Celestia and Luna were around during the founding of Equestria. They simply didn't directly intervene with the lives of the pony tribes until Discord started spreading chaos.A map!
And history.
I love getting more lore about the MLP world.
Now if we could just learn some more about the princesses, Discord, and the history of Equestria.
This story does raise some interesting questions.
Celestia and Luna have been around and ruling for at least a thousand years, and that the three tribes were responsible for the creation of Equestria and Canterlot as well as the establishment of the GGG. Before Equestria, the Unicorns handled the Day and Night, so the Princesses weren't around yet.
All that's fine and good, but in the latest episode, when Granny Smith was at Canterlot, it looked more like a fair ground than an established city, save for the stone structures.
I didn't mean to imply they didn't exist yet, just that they weren't handling the Day and Night. It's quite possible that Celestia and Luna were around during the founding of Equestria. They simply didn't directly intervene with the lives of the pony tribes until Discord started spreading chaos.
As for Canterlot, it's not uncommon for large cities to have a park or fair grounds for special events. They could have just been in that area of the city.
They seem to be handling the character centric episodes in streaks and they just haven't gotten to Pinkie yet. Though the episode this saturday stars her. According to the synopsis, she'll be babysitting for the Cakes' kids.Is anyone else perturbed by the lack of Pinkie Pie-centric episodes this season? I mean, she seems to be strangely absent from this season, even as a secondary character...
Alright, alright. Deep breaths.I... I finally came back onto AW. I hadn't even signed in since October I guess. My life has been consumed by ponies.
