My goal for the rest of August and through September is to complete a small anthology of short stories and flash fiction. I don't have any grandiose plans for publishing it, but I'd like to get a few printed for family and friends. It's really about challenging myself to finish something, while also allowing myself the freedom to tryout different storytelling devices. It's almost like an experiment.

RJenn, not to rain on your aspirations of publishing an anthology AT ALL.
But you can also submit these things to online magazines. Most of them only take first rights, which I believe means all rights revert back to the author after publication.

Considering how long it takes to find an agent, and then the agent to sell the book, this shouldn't slow you down. And then, more people would have a reason to to read the anthology, if they've seen your work and like it.

Just saying. Maybe it could be good for you twice.

Not here, but there
It depends on the word count of these stories too.
I think that's a great goal. Good Luck with it.

I'm not really interested in getting an agent. It's more of a writing & editing challenge for myself. Still, submitting a few of the stories could be a good idea. I'll look into that.

I have hopes of writing a novel down the line, so I like to think of this as a warm up.

Experimenting is great ...
If you publish few copies, maybe you should have a link
so we get a chance to read it.
We pray that things turn out to your favor
and change your mind to publish it.
Good luck!

What a great way to showcase your stories too! I'd love to know what kind of fiction you're writing? Any specific genre?

Good luck with your project.

Mostly horror and dark comedy. I'm thinking of venturing into satirical writing as well.
